Numerous industries from office furniture, to computer hardware, and even in cars, see modular design simplifying the way things are constructed for time, cost, and quality benefits. Modular construction is an innovative process where a building is custom designed and prefabricated in units - known as modules. With this prefabrication process, there are five reasons as to why modularization is becoming an effective and highly popular construction process. 1. Faster Time saving is the chief benefit to modular construction. This is due to having both site preparation and fabrication of building modules run in parallel, resulting in a significantly reduced construction schedule. Besides, producing the building modules off-site mitigates risks of site disruptions and weather delays. In addition, modular buildings are completed 30-50% sooner than their traditional counterparts. 2. Quality Control While the building modules are constructed in half the time of traditional building materials, the quality is not lessened. In fact, better quality management is achieved by off-site fabrication of building modules. The controlled environment offers better QA/QC (Quality Assurance and Quality Control) measures, and protects materials from wear out and deterioration prior to installation. 3.
