URINALYSIS USING TEST STRIPS

1Check expiry dates2

2Wear gloves 2

3Take a test strip out & immediately close the lid.2

4Record time / start timer/stopwatch1

5Dip strip for less than 1 second, without bending strip.2

6Slide edge of strip along container edge to remove excess urine.1

7Briefly dab the long edge and then the back of the test strip on paper towel for less than 1 second.1

8Wait for at least 60 seconds, but not more than 120 seconds.2

9Compare with colour scale immediately & accurately.2

10Do not touch the test zones with fingers.1

11Discard urine test strip into clinical waste bin.1

12Remove gloves and discard into clinical waste bin.1

13Correct interpretation2
