5 Tips For Online Smartphone Shopping
Nobody Tells
With everything going online nowadays, a majority of people have completely
switched to online shopping instead of taking the traditional way of going to the
store and buying things. Moreover, the traditional ‘bargaining’ has been replaced
by ‘offers on mobile phones’ online. Whether it is clothes, bags, food, mobile
phones- even second hand mobiles for that matter; almost everything is now
available online. It is now possible to even rent the stuff that you can’t absolutely
afford to buy online.
As the demand of online shopping is going high, so are the numbers of online
shopping sites. Every other day a new website pops up claiming to be an E-
commerce site. But a lot of times, they are not what they claim to be. And falling
for them means losing your money. Now, since most of these bloopers happen
mostly with big and hefty priced items like mobile phones, this article is going to
be about 5 tips for online Smartphone shopping that you will not get anywhere
else.
1. Do not fall for banners that say “ Online purchase Mobile ” or “ Best
Offers Mobile ”
Almost every website I visit nowadays have at least 5 such ads. Generally, when
reputable and reliable companies advertise, they make sure that the grammar,
spellings etc are on point. Hence, banners saying “Online purchase mobile” are
most likely not the best site to purchase your mobile phone online. However, there
could be some cases where they might turn out to be legitimate sites, but do not
take a risk and do your research well.
2. Do not fall for extraordinarily cheap prices
There are quite a few websites that claim to sell the newly released iPhones for a
mere price of just 10,000 Rupees. Now, unless there is special offers on mobile
phones or a buy back offer going on, on the website, there is a very little chance
that it is a reliable one. Chances are, you will end up losing your money if you fall
for such traps.
Please note however, these prices may be valid if the phone is a refurbished or
used. Second hand mobiles sometimes do run for prices as low as 10,000 rupees
for an iPhone.
3. Check the reviews!
It is funny as to how many people miss this simple step out and end up falling for
traps online. We are living in a world where everyone has to say something and
they sometimes end up saying some important things. So, listen to that. Read the
reviews of the gadget and the website that you are planning to buy and buy from,
respectively! A lot of times the ‘reality’ of the website will be out, in front of you
with just a few clicks.
4. Compare the prices!
A lot of times, different websites may have a better deal for a certain product. For
example, Amazon has the best deals for Mac Books whereas Togofogo has some
brilliant ones for Samsung. Hence, even if you have a ‘favorite site’ that you
otherwise always order from, it will be nothing but silly of you if you lose out on
the opportunity of saving some money all because you did not check around and
compare the prices available on different websites.
5. Use Refurbished and Second Hand Mobiles
I personally do not understand why people are allergic to using refurbished and
used products because sometimes they are way worth your money than the brand
new ones. Firstly, the reputable websites (I personally prefer Amazon & Togofogo
the most for used books and phones respectively) always check whether the ‘used’
products are actually in usable conditions before putting them up and refurbished
phones are literally new ones at almost half the price. So why not?
Lastly, just keep some general tips in mind. Like using a secure Wi-Fi network, not
falling for products without proper description or product images etc. Online
shopping can be both bad and good, depending on what you make out of it. So
shop safe, and make the most out of it!
