T here is a small voice
that penetrated the stillness of the night. It comes
from the bedroom across the hall. “Daddy, I’m scared!” Out of your groggy, fuzzy state, you respond with, “Honey, don’t be afraid, Daddy’s right across the hall.” After a very brief pause the little voice is heard again, “I’m still scared.” Always quick with an insight you respond, “You don’t need to be afraid. God is with you. God loves you.” This time the pause is longer . . . but the voice returns, “I don’t care about God, Daddy; I want someone with skin on!”
It seems like the logic used by the little child is precisely the reason for the Incarnation. After thousands of years of being unsuccessful in being able to convince his people that he really loved

them, our Creator realized that the best way to demonstrate his love for us was to send “someone with skin on.”
On Sunday we will be looking at God’s servant Noah. Noah was chosen of God to be a witness to the world that judgment was coming. No greater symbol than that of the Ark could convey the message that something was about to happen. The same can be said of our Savior when he came something was about to happen!

ALMA HUNT
OFFERING FOR VIRGINIA MISSIONS
September 8-15, 2019
Please give as you are led.
The annual Virginia Missions Offering was named for Alma Hunt, a native Virginian
who was known worldwide for her missions service. The offering provides for all
Women’s Missionary Union of Virginia (WMUV) missions and ministries such as
Disaster Relief and CrossRoads Camp for students.
We invite you to give to the Alma Hunt Offering—joining your gifts with those of
many other Virginia Baptists as we work Together as One—sharing the love of
Christ across the Commonwealth and with the whole world.
Let’s begin the changing of seasons with a fresh commitment
to missions! Won’t you plan to join us on Tuesday, September
10 at 10:30 a.m. in the John Bryant classroom? We will learn
how Jesus, evangelism, and koalas are part of IMB mission-
aries, Ken & Kathy Woods’ ministry Down Under in Australia.

SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAYS
MBC Family,
Summer is coming to a close and that means Advent Season is on the horizon! Christmas. Stress. They seem to go hand in hand. Why is it that the meaning of Peace on Earth is any-thing but peaceful? Help us present a musical that will bring our focus to the true meaning of Christmas!
This year the Music Ministry will present One Quiet Night by Richard Kingsmore. This is a musical that will appeal to all ages! In addition to a full worship choir, praise band and orchestra we will include acting roles! If you would like to take part in this special presentation, please contact Paul Rozecki. We are looking for an adult male and fe-male, 1 teenager, 2 younger children to play small acting roles.
Please consider becoming part of this ministry as we focus on the true meaning of Christmas! We will have kick off and listening session on September 18 at 7:30p in the Music Room for everyone interested in participating. Come and join us and see if you would like to participate in this exciting musical!
Mark Your Calendar! The presentation will take place on December 8, 2019 in the Family Life Center at 6:30pm!
