Background of the Dhaka Bank
Bangladesh economy has been experiencing a rapid growth since the '90s.
Industrial and agricultural development, international trade, inflow of expatriateBangladeshi workers' remittance, local and foreign investments in construction,
communication, power, food processing and service enterprises ushered in an era
of economic activities. rbani!ation and lifestyle changes concurrent with the
economic development created a demand for banking products and services to
support the new initiatives as well as to channeli!e consumer investments in a

he Bank was incorporated as a public limited company under the (ompanies
"ct. %99). he Bank started its commercial operation on *uly 0&, %99& with an
authori!ed capital of k. %,000 million and paid up capital of k. %00 million. he
paid up capital of the Bank stood at k. %,+9.&0 million as on -% #ecember,
+00. he total e/uity capital and reserves1 of the Bank as on #ecember -%,

he Bank has -2 branches across the country and a wide network of
correspondents all over the world. he Bank has plans to open more branches in
the current fiscal year to expand the network.
he Bank offers the full range of banking and investment services for personal
and corporate customers, backed by the latest technology and a team of highly
motivated officers and staff. In our effort to provide 3xcellence in Banking
services, the Bank has launched 4nline Banking service, 5oined a countrywideshared "6 network and has introduced a co7branded credit card as well as e7

sophisticated software named HlexcubeF, which comes from JI7 flex solution ltd.

industry. he organi!ational structure of #B$ is little bit different from any other
banks operating in Bangladesh. here are a few different committees or
departments. "nd those departments are again followed by a number of other
departments. hese departments are inclined to each other.
#B$ has a modern organi!ational structure. hough the organ gram starts from
the Board of #irector then it follows gradually to the (hairman, Cice7(hairman
and then 6anaging #irector. he organ gram does not provide a very clear
picture of the organi!ational structure because all the divisions to some extent are
working together with a common goal, the profit maximi!ation.
But there is a common advisor who is directly related to the top management
division. Lhatever decision is taken the advisor suggests it after consulting the
