Film trailer
WIDE READ FOUR
Annie Davis
Trailers consist of a series of selected shots that relate to the film being advertised.
Since the purpose of the trailer is to attract an audience to the film, these excerpts are usually
drawn from the most exciting, funny, or otherwise noteworthy parts of the film but in abbreviated form.
The scenes are not necessarily in the order in which they appear in the film. A trailer has to
achieve that in less than two and a half minutes.
FILM TRAILER?
Create a film trailer for a suitable movie. (PG, G)
Use the iMovie Trailer template to create your trailer.
You may work in pairs for this task.
In your trailer include: title, genre, director and year of production.
You want to entice your audience to want to see this film, but DO NOT give away the ending!
You may not use any YouTube clips for your trailer.
TASK
Montage is a technique in film editing in which a series of short shots are edited into a sequence to condense space, time, and
information.
Voice-over narration is used to briefly set up the premise of the movie and provide explanation when necessary.
Music helps set the tone and mood of the trailer. Usually the music used in the trailer is not from the film itself- Clint Mansell’s music is
often used in trailers.
A variety of shot types and angles- make sure your shots and angles are not all the same.
