The focus will be on oral moisteningdisorders, gastroesophageal reflux, and orofacial pain. Sleepbruxism and obstructive sleep apnea are the next lectures' topics.

Sleep Bruxism UpdateSynopsis: Dentists are frequently confronted with bruxism in theireveryday practices. In this lecture, the focus will be on the currentinsights into bruxism's definition, assessment, epidemiologicalcharacteristics, etiology, possible negative (and positive)consequences, differential diagnosis, and management.

Professor Frank Lobbezoo graduated cum laude as dentist in 1988 from the Universityof Utrecht (UU), The Netherlands. In 1992, he obtained his PhD degree from the UU,after which he worked for three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University ofMontreal in Quebec, Canada.

As of September 1996, he works at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam(ACTA), The Netherlands, where he was appointed as a full professor in 2005. In2014, he was appointed as Chair of the Department of Oral Health Sciences andVice-Dean of ACTA. As of 2019, he serves as Chair of the Department of OrofacialPain and Dysfunction.

Frank Lobbezoo is specialized in TMD/Orofacial Pain, President of the Dutch DentalSociety (NTG), Past President of the European Academy of CraniomandibularDisorders (EACD), and Past President of the International RDC/TMD Consortium, aNetwork of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). He served asVisiting Professor at the University of Adelaide in South-Australia, Australia (2006)and at the College of Dentistry of the New York University in New York, USA (2014-2015). In 2016, Frank Lobbezoo received an Honorary Professorship at the School &Hospital of Stomatology, Shandong University in Jinan, Shandong, China. In 2019, hewas appointed as Honorary Skou Professor of Orofacial Pain and Jaw Function atthe Department of Dentistry and Oral Health, Faculty of Health, Aarhus University(AU), Denmark.

Dr. Ghizlane Aarab is an Associate Professor at the department of OrofacialPain and Dysfunction of the Academic Centre for Dentistry in Amsterdam. Sheteaches at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels on orofacialpain and on dental sleep medicine. Further, Ghizlane is working part-time as adentist specialized in sleep medicine, orofacial pain/TMD, and restorativedentistry at her private dental clinic in the Netherlands. In 2011, Dr. Aarabdefended her thesis entitled “Mandibular Advancement Device Therapy inObstructive Sleep Apnea” at the University of Amsterdam.

Dr. Aarab currently supervises many PhD projects on the effects of oralappliance therapy in obstructive sleep apnea patients. Dr. Aarab is the chair ofthe scientific committee of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine,and a member of the Dutch Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Further, she isa member of the editorial board of the Journal of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Mimi Yow is an orthodontist in full-time multidisciplinary practice with theSingHealth Sleep, Cleft and Craniofacial, and Orthognathic Surgery teams withmore than three decades of clinical experience. She is the Director of SleepClinical Services in the SingHealth Duke-NUS Sleep Centre, a national medicaland academic centre for the treatment of sleep disorders in patient-centricsettings to optimize outcomes for patients through integrated clinical care,education and research.

Dr. Mimi Yow is part-time faculty and associate programme director of theNDCS-NUS Orthodontics Residency Training Programme at the National DentalCentre Singapore and Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore.She teaches orthodontics and sleep-disordered breathing in orthodontic andmultidisciplinary practices with medical and surgical specialists to graduatesand postgraduates. She is actively involved in epidemiology and phenotyperesearch. Her interests are in cleft and craniofacial anomalies, dentofacialdeformities, sleep-disordered breathing and bruxism.

Dr. Leow graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Calgary inCanada before completing postgraduate specialist training in Sleep andRespiratory Medicine in New Zealand. He moved to Singapore in September2013 and started work as a Senior Consultant at the Department of Respiratoryand Critical Care Medicine as well as the Sleep Disorders Unit at SGH.

Apart from his work in Respiratory Medicine, he has a special interest in SleepMedicine and Chronic Non-Invasive Ventilation(NIV). He is the current Directorof the SGH Sleep Center, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS MedicalSchool and Clinical Senior Lecturer, NUS YLL School of Medicine. He was thepast president of the Singapore Sleep Society and a current exco member, andremains passionate about the development of sleep medicine in Singapore.

He manages patients with a wide range of Respiratory conditions such aschronic cough, asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis, and Sleep Disorders rangingfrom obstructive sleep apnoea, circadian rhythm disorders to narcolepsy andchronic respiratory failure.

Dr. Kenny Pang is a leader in the field of ENT, Sleep Medicine and Sleep Surgery. Hegraduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He attained hisSurgical Fellowship from both the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and Ireland, and hisMasters of Medicine (ENT).

Dr. Pang completed the sleep surgery and sleep medicine fellowship in the Department ofOtolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Georgia Sleep Centre, Medical College of Georgia(MCG) in USA. He is well versed in treating all forms of sleep disorders, including snoring,obstructive sleep apnoea, insomnia, sleepwalking, night terrors and bedwetting.

Dr. Pang invented two very successful snoring surgeries, the Expansion SphincterPharyngoplasty and the Anterior Palatoplasty.

Dr. Pang is the course director of major international courses in Singapore 2006, 2008, 2010,2013 and 2015, which were attended by more than 1000 ENT specialists from all over the world.He has been invited over 80 times Internationally as Keynote Speaker in Sleep and SnoringCourses.

Dr. Pang is the author of Singapore’s “Handbook of ENT & Sleep Disorder” and the “SleepSolutions/Sleep Matters Book”. He has written over 30 chapters for various American ENT /Sleep textbooks; and published over 50 scientific papers in international journals.

Dr. Kenny Pang is the Chief Editor in the International Sleep Surgical Textbook for surgeons,titled “Advanced Surgical Technique in Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea”, published bythe American Plural Publishing.

Dr. David K. L. Tay was a former full-time faculty member in the Department of RestorativeDentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, NUS. Since 1993, he has been in full-time private practice limitedto the specialty of prosthodontics.

He has published in scientific journals, contributed to prosthodontic textbooks and givennumerous presentations and courses on Prosthodontics, Occlusion, TMD/Orofacial Pain andDental Sleep Medicine, both locally and overseas. He is currently investigating the TMD-UARScomorbidity in S.E. Asian populations and also involved in a research project with NationalDental Centre, Singapore and Singapore General Hospital Sleep Disorders Unit to innovatenovel approaches in the phenotyping of bruxism.

Dr. Tay has over 20 years’ experience in Oral Appliance Therapy and has been co-managingpatients with sleep-disordered breathing in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team ofsleep professionals. His other special interests include full-mouth occlusal rehabilitation, themanagement of temporomandibular disorders & chronic orofacial pain, and golf.

He holds memberships in several professional organizations including the International Collegeof Prosthodontists, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American EquilibrationSociety, and the Pain Association of Singapore. He was also former Chairman, Chapter ofDental Surgeons, Academy of Medicine (Singapore) and past President of the ProsthodonticSociety (Singapore).

He is, presently, the Clinical Director of T32 Dental Centre (Specialist Division) at CamdenMedical Centre.
