    CURRENT TECHNOLOGY

TDMA :Time Division Multiple Access, is a technique fordividing the time domain up into sub channels for use bymultiple devices.

CDMA :Code Division Multiple Access, allows everydevice in a cell to transmit over the entire bandwidth at alltimes.

    ISSUES ON 3G WIRELESS SYSTEM

High input fees for the 3G service licenses.Inefficient to meet needs of future high-

performance .Require wider bandwidth.Lack of coverage because it is still new service.

    OFDM FOR 4G W IRELESS ~ 6 kHz

    ~ 800tones

    ~ 5 MHz

Orthogonal frequency-divisionmultiplexing (OFDM ) is a method ofencoding digital data on multiplecarrier frequencies.

OFDM is being increasingly used inhigh -speed information transmissionsystems:

    - European HDTV- Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB)

    - Digital Subscriber Loop (DSL)- IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN5 MHz channels~ 6 KHz tones~ 13/26 MHz sample rate1 to 2 msec time-slots in 20 to 40 msec frames

Support for interactive multimedia, voice, streaming video, Internet, and other broadband servicesIP based mobile system.High speed, high capacity, and low cost per bit.Global access, service portability, and scalable mobile services.

Seamless switching, and a variety of Quality of Service drivenservices.Better scheduling and call admission control technique. Ad hoc and multi hop networks (the strict delay requirements of voice make multi hop network service a difficult problem).

Better spectral efficiency. An infrastructure to handle pre existing 3G systems along with other wireless technologies,
