Daily Learning Plan Day 9 March 27, 2020

Please fill out your Activity notebook that was sent home with your child on Friday March 13th each day with the activities that you complete. It woud be helpful to date the assignments that you are working on.

If you need to, you can email me with anything you would like to share or questions you may have. I would love to hear from you about your learning, especially once you are connected to Seesaw. Feel free to share with me all of the amazing things you are doing either thru email or Seesaw.

Try to make sure you are at least completing the Reading, Writing, and Math activities.

1. Today we are going to focus on listening to a great example of fluency and expression. Please play the link above.

Read one of your Independent Reading Books from the baggie that was sent home for you. You could also choose to read a book from the RAZ kids site (log in information is available on our website) or a book that you have from your home library if you would prefer. Your choice

2. Retell one of your stories, but create props to do so. No supplies? No problem! Use empty toilet tissue rolls like Mrs.Lowman. Use the back of a cereal box,construction paper,computer paper, or any art supplies you might have. Decorate a plastic spoon for a character! Send a video if you know how to on SEESAW to your teacher! Hit the green + then you can select photo or video! Remember to hit the green check when you are done and your teacher can approve and view your post right away!

Fundations: 1. Review all of your vowel sounds (play teacher with a parent or sibling!)

2. Parents/guardians please dictate these words slowly so that your child may write these down with a pencil. Use your activity notebook to record the following words, then mark them up!

Marking Reminders: Underline the base word, circle suffix s Put a breve above the short vowel (short and sweet with a smile!) Box the glued sound Underline the digraph Underline each letter in the blend Put a star above the bonus letter

3.Use your activity notebook to write these trick words in complete senteces. Remember these are asking words so please make sure you use ? marks and capital letters.

Writing: 1. Today we are going to add opening and closing sentences to our opinion

pieces from this week.

For example: opening: Do you like candy? If so, you should try M&M’s. I believe that M&Ms are the best candy.I think this because they come in all kinds of flavors.You can get flavors like plain, peanut, mint, and peanut butter. Also they are chocolate and crunchy. If you like crunchy candy, you can buy a bag of crispy M&Ms. Another reason is they are colorful. M&Ms come in all different colors like red, blue, green, brown, orange, and yellow. closing: Now you know why M&Ms are the best candy. You should buy some today.

2. After writing your opening and closing sentences, please use the checklists below to revise and edit your entire writing piece. Check to see if you can add details or labels to any illustrations.

Revising Checklist: My writing has a lead (opening sentence) I said my opinion I wrote 3 reasons with details/examples I wrote a closing; reminding the reader of my opinion. I can read my writing

Editing Checklist: I started every sentence with a capital I ended every sentence with a punctuation mark I wrote down all the sounds I heard I spelled all my trick words correctly

Please use this as a guide to help your child with his/her opinion piece.Write an opening.

2. Now click on the first box entitled “Grades K,1,&2” 3. Click on the second box entitled “Math” 4. Choose any activity in the first or second row (all of these will focus on fact fluency) 5. If your child would like a challenge, please choose any activity from the 3rd, 4th, or 5th

row. 6. Log which activity you chose to complete and how long you worked on it in your activity

notebook. (ie: “That’s a Fact” for 10 Minutes)

7. Parents choose any # from 20-40. Ask your child to skip count from that number.Have them count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 120. Record that you completed this activity in your notebook or send me a video of you skip counting on seesaw.
