The 4-inch GreenGrid Extensive Roof Garden System is composed of a 4-inch layer of growth media and drought- tolerant vegetation. The drought-tolerant vegetation is composed mostly of colorful sedum species and other dry habitat perennials, requiring little or no supplemental irrigation, fertilization or maintenance. These roof gardens are not intended for recreational uses but rather to act as a visually pleasing and functional roof extensions wherein the building owner will achieve the benefits associated with green roofs e.g., reduction of temperature extremes on the roof, prevention of mechanical damage to the roof, reduction of noise transmission into the building, increased energy efficiency and, most importantly, storm water management. The GreenGrid Extensive Roof Garden System is also lightweight, approximately 15 pounds per square foot (wet), and weighs just slightly more than a conventional ballasted roof.* The following are a few suggested plant species (USDA Hardiness Zones 4-8) for use in the 4-inch GreenGrid Extensive Roof Garden System: CARLISLE GREENGRID GREENGRID® 800-4-SYNTEC P. The 8-inch GreenGrid Intensive Roof Garden System was

designed for more elaborate rooftop gardens. These

rooftop gardens are generally intended for access and

thus must have the structural capacity for the associated

live loads. The 8-inch depth GreenGrid System allows for

a larger selection of plants, including ornamental

perennials, annuals and small shrubs. With the addition of

paver pathways, edge treatments and other architectural

features, the resulting rooftop garden becomes a beautiful

and dramatic new usable space. Dependent upon plant

selection, a supplemental drip irrigation system,

fertilization and maintenance are generally necessary to

maintain a rooftop garden, just as they would be for a

perennial garden in the backyard. The average weight of

an 8-inch GreenGrid Intensive Roof Garden System is

approximately 28 pounds per square foot (wet).*
