What is a Christian Montessori Education It is an education which uses the Montessori method of learning in a nurturing Christian environment. We value healthy relationships with one another and God. We believe that all children are unique individuals who have immense potential. We use the Bible and the teachings from the New Church to develop children to be curious, lifelong learners, as well as good citizens. What does the classroom look like? The environment is prepared to encourage independence, freedom within limits, and respect for each child’s psychological, physical, and social development. It incorporates self directed activity as well as hands-on and collaborative learning opportunities for the students. Teachers guide each child through the learning process by using materials that meet their needs at every stage of their life. What is Montessori Education? It is a scientifically based educational system designed by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago. The Montessori method of learning integrates biology, history, geography, language and math in a beautiful way that shows children the relationship between all things. It is an educational method that develops the whole person. 495 Oak Arbor Circle Rochester MI 48306 248. 652. 3420 I www.oakarborschool.org FEED THE MIND - “An interesting piece of work, freely chosen, which has the virtue of inducing concentration rather than fatigue, adds to the child’s energies and mental capacities, and leads {the child} to self- mastery.” - Maria Montessori TOUCH THE HEART - 'The child is a miraculous being, and this should be felt deeply by the educator.' - Maria Montessori PREPARE FOR LIFE - "The circle of a person's life is to know, to understand, to will and to do." - Emanuel Swedenborg PRESCHOOL - 8TH GRADE Discover the unique approach and benefits of a Montessori education in a Christian environment.
