St. Benedict CATHOLIC CHURCH 26th Sunday of Ordinary Time September 29, 2019 - Mar Lunr Hosts 8AM: Sherry Zane 10AM: Marilyn Sturm Dear Friends, Today, our Sister Parish, St. Lawrence of Brindisi in Limulunga, Zambia, is finishing their 60th Anniversary Celebration. We will likely have some pictures of the celebration to share with you soon. The community was happy and blessed to welcome Bishop Evans Chinyemba, OMI, to their parish for confirmations during this anniversary celebration and for visits to several of their outlying parish missions. Our connection to Zambia began when we were still served by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) as is St. Lawrence. In 2002, St. Benedict Parish donated $130,000 to the Oblates for their seminary work in Africa. Our association with St. Lawrence as a Companion Parish began in that same timeframe. Members of St. Benedict have visited Limulunga several times, with parish sponsored trips in 2007 and again in 2011. Through the years, St. Benedict has supported operational expenses for the parish and its preschool, funds to build a parish center, and support for establishing and building a quail operation for sales to profit the parish. All the members of their outstation missions within the parish are joining together for a celebration and feast. Today we pray for their community in a special way.
