SHEEP & GOAT WEIGH INSDawes County 4-H will have our Market Sheep & Market Goatweigh ins on Tuesday, June 1st, 3-6 pm at the Fairgrounds. Allyouth planning to exhibit a market sheep or goat animal at theDawes County Fair must bring it to the weigh in to be taggedand identi�ed. Youth planning to show at the Nebraska StateFair and Aksarben should let the o�ce know as there are otherrequirements for showing (DNA).

Any 4-H’er with market beef, swine, sheep, and goats will be eligible for the CarcassContest.All market animals will be ultra-sounded at weigh ins on Wednesday, August 4th.*New in 2021 – The 4-H Council will pay for an ultrasound for one market animal per 4-H’er if they attend the educational session about ultra-sounding provided by 4-H. If don’tattend, 4-H Council will not pay.4-H’ers are allowed to purchase as many ultrasounds at they would like at their own costat $7.00/animal.4-H’ers must turn in a Carcass Contest registration form to the Extension O�ce by July1st

4-H PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST RESULTSThe Chadron High School Auditorium hosted 4-H youth, families, and volunteers on Monday,April 12 for the 2021 Dawes County 4-H Public Speaking Contest. Five youth presentedspeeches and three shared their recorded public service announcement (PSA). HORSE ADVANCEMENT LEVELSTESTINGMelissa Mracek will be offering a Horse Advancement LevelTesting day on Thursday, May 27 in Dawes County 4-HBuilding/Arena.Pre-registration is REQUIRED by May 21 – contact NebraskaExtension Dawes County at 432-3373 (Registration info needed:Name, Age, Levels they wish to pass, Contact Telephone) PREPARE IN ADVANCE:1. Review the information available in the Extension O�ce or online at4h.unl.edu/horse/advancement. There are study materials available on the website as well asa complete description of the requirements for each level.2. Prepare a demonstration that is appropriate for the level trying to pass.3. Ride your horse and have them ready to complete requirements of the Skills Test.4.
