It comes under short rangewireless communicationlike bluetooth and othernear fieldcommunications.

Red Tacton is a technology developed by Japanese

company NTT(Nippon Telegraph and telephone company)

It sends data over the surface of skin at speeds of up to

10Mbpsequivalent to fast broadband data connection.

Red Tacton takes a different technical approach.Instead ofrelying on electromagnetic waves or light waves to carry

data,it uses weak electric fields on the surface of the body

as transmission medium.

The name choosen for this technology is derived from

TACTON(Touch ACT ON) which means action triggered bytouching.

WORKING PROCEDURE

Transmitter induces a weak electric field on the surface ofthe body.

Receiver senses changes in the weak electric field on thesurface of the body caused by transmitter.

Red Tacton detects changes in the optical properties of anelectro-optic crystal using a laser and converts the result toan electrical signal in an optical receiver circuit.
