Mary listened to the angel’s message in wonder. The mother of God’s own Son?She could hardly believe it! “I will do whatever God wants,” said Mary.

Mary was busy at home, sweeping and cooking and fetching water. Suddenly an angel stood in front of her. Mary felt frightened!

The Visit of the Angel

Then Mary hurried to tell her cousin Elizabeth the exciting news. Mary sang a song to God. She thanked him for giving her such a special baby.

“Don’t be afraid,” said the angel. “You’re going to have a baby. He will be called Jesus, the Son of God. He will be great and wonderful.”

1 Press out the three pieces for the star, the stable, the base and the background scene.

2 Fold each piece along all the dotted lines.

3 Make the background scene first: insert the tab on the background piece below the two jars into the slot on the right-hand side of the ground.

4 Take the stable and insert the tab on the left of the roof into the slot above the donkey’s head on the background.

5 Working counterclockwise around the stable, insert the tabs into the slots in this order:

• the left-hand wall into the background;

• the left-hand wall into the base;

• the right-hand wall into the base and then into the background wall;

• the last tab of the roof into the background.
