2015 Prayer Covenant
of
The Faith Community of
St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church
Eastpoint, Maryland
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
The people of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church covenant with one
another in prayer to walk with God and reflect his love to everyone.
Through the Spirit’s leading we will pray daily:
That our eyes and ears be open to God’s guiding hand
for our congregation.
That God continues to bless, guide and strengthen Vicar
Jeanette in her leadership role at St. Peter and all her
life endeavors.
God bless and refresh the leadership, staff and volunteers
faithfully serving this congregation.
That God would open our minds and hearts to our call by the
Holy Spirit to serve the Church, the community and the world.
May we have God’s blessing on our Covenant as we keep in touch
daily through prayer, worship, and Bible study with our loving God.
We ask, and pray this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ.
Amen
The Spirit Moves Me!
2015 VBS
What a great week we had! Each night we learned something the Spirit does. Monday we
learned the Spirit guides and we made beautiful wind spinners. Tuesday's theme was the Spirit gives
gifts. We explored what gifts we have been given and ones we have not. We made bubble wands and
had a chance to try them out. Wednesday we heard that the Spirit speaks. We even got to hear “the
Spirit” give us some guiding words. We made feather wind chimes, that only had two tiny bells to
remind us we need listen for the Spirit's voice. Thursday we learned all can hear the Spirit. We made
head gear with tongues of fire like the apostles received at Pentecost. So everyone could hear the Spirit
speak in their own language. Friday we learned the Spirit declares. Our story was about Jesus' baptism
and the Spirit coming down declaring Jesus as God's son. Before our Stories Friday the puppets
preformed for us with wonderful songs and even some dancing. Reminding us to be a “bee”liver. Our
craft was leather crosses with doves on them. (Thank you Larry Sands for donating the crosses) The
children chose whether to make them into a necklaces or a book mark after they had colored them.
Of course VBS couldn't happen without the help of a lot of people. Thank you Jan and all the
ladies who helped give us wonderful meals each night. Thank you to Mr. Doug for making sure we had
air conditioning each night, we really needed it. Thank you Mr. Steven for making sure the building
was ready for us. Thank you to the puppeteers for Friday's wonderful show. Thank you to our activity
leaders for the crafts (Sabrina & Charleah), Stories, Games (Donovan), and Music (Valerie). Thank you
to our crew leaders (Robert, Nancy and Carol) and Our Jr. crew leaders (Lindsey, Lizzy and Gracie) for
keeping the kids together and getting them where they needed to be on time.
WELCA SERVICE PROJECT: Angels Supporting Your Troops…This organization has been
working out of Dundalk for quite a few years collecting various items in high demand that are needed
by our US military personnel serving overseas. The Dundalk Eagle has written many articles
regarding ‘Angels’ and in the Eagle’s July 16th
issue, there were two articles regarding their on-going
project. St. Peter WELCA will be embarking on a service project to collect items for our military
servicemen and women during August and September. Each week prior to our collection, you will find
in our bulletin a list of the items we will be collecting the following week. Please be on the lookout
and let’s support those who are dedicating themselves in the service of our country. It’s a small way to
say thank you.
St. Peter Lutheran Church is inviting all to our community lunch
held the last Saturday of every month at 11:00 a.m. We also have
a community dinner the first and second Saturday of every month
at 4:00 p.m. It is followed by a contemporary worship service and
dessert. These meals are open to everyone in the community.
Box Tops for Education….. Please bring box tops to Valerie Adelung or
Nancy Hammond for the music program at Colgate School. Your help is
appreciated.

one or in honor of a special person.

Funds can be used for social ministry, education, building projects, and other ways that work for good in the community. Let us not leave these funds unused. Please contact Lillian or to find out more about Thrivent please visitwww.thrivent.com.

Special Thanks
Thank you so much for your generous donation of $75.00 to the Franciscan Center. Bless you for your
kindness.
Summer finds many families in our community at the intersection of want and need. Want, because with
children on summer break and not receiving meals at school, the drain on families’ resources is greater.
Need, because recent cuts in food stamp benefits and rising food costs have left them with fewer
resources. Here at the Franciscan Center, we’re seeing more people and we’re seeing them earlier in the
month.
The Franciscan Center serves as a “one-stop shop” for families and individuals in crisis, helping them to
achieve stability by meeting their basic human needs and empowering them with the tools and resources
they need to build self-sufficient lives. None of this would be possible without the help and support of our
friends like you.
Thank you again for your kindness-and for your prayers. Please know that you and your loved ones
remain in our prayers-today and throughout all the days to come. May you know the joy that comes with
a generous heart, and may God grant you abundant blessings.
Peace and all good,
Christian Metzger

Dear Friend,
Thank you for your $42.00 gift to Bread for the World, which we received on June 30, 2015.
Your financial support enables us to provide resources to thousands of churches across the country-as
they make plans to celebrate Bread for the World Sunday on October 18 or another Sunday in the fall,
Through prayer, action, and giving, these churches will help create hope and opportunity for hungry
people.
Please visit www.bread.org/sunday to learn how you can involve your own church in this hopeful effort.
Thank you again for your generous gift. May the months ahead be a time of growth and renewal in God’s
grace.
Sincerely,
David Beckmann
President
Dear people of St. Peter’s:
Thank you for your generous gift of $500, including generous support from Thrivent’s Baltimore East
Chapter-to support the work of Lutheran Campus Ministry. What a joy it is to know that there are so
many folks who believe in the value of what we do on campus and who are eager to support the work that
God is doing in and through our students!
Although June is officially a time of rest for our ministry, God is still at work this summer. The slower
days of summer allow me to meet with our student leaders informally, hear from students all across the
country who are following Jesus in the midst of internships and summer jobs, and read and pray and
renew myself for the 15week sprint that is the semester! Also continuing this summer, due to the work of
alumni and students who live locally, is our Community Table, a monthly meal to those in need in the
Towson community.
I am most excited to share, though, how the seeds of campus ministry continue to grow beyond what I
could imagine. Here’s what I shared about that in a sermon last Sunday:
Recently several alumni have stayed in the area and joined different local churches. And they’re finding
they are often one of the only young adults there. These alumni decided that they want to spend more time
talking about Jesus and supporting each other as fellow followers of Jesus. So about 7 folks will start
gathering this Thursday and for Thursdays to come. But not only that- they have friends they want to
bring with them- friends on the edge of faith who need a place to explore what it means to follow Jesus.
These alum want to create a welcome space for those who aren’t ready to set foot in a church- to share the
goodness of Jesus as a family in Christ. This is an awesome privilege- to get to watch seeds that were
planted bear fruit for the sake of the kingdom of God.
Thank you for supporting us in this work!
In Christ,
Pastor Laura
