Example for anchoring on base plate
Comments on executing the inner gasket level:
1. The controlled drainage of rebate areas is only ensured if the gasket areas
overlap in such a manner that no moisture can penetrate under the
gaskets or foils.
2. Run foil as moisture barrier until it lies under the cross-beam
gasket and then bond with steel construction. In accordance with
DIN 18195 Part 5, the waterproofing must be at least 150 mm above
the water-conducting layer.
3. Bond foil with building moisture barrier in accordance with DIN 18195.
4. The rebate area is ventilated via the open ends of the vertical cover strips.
5. The illustrated flush-mounted execution of the beam with the floor is not
mandatory. Ensure vapour-tight execution of the connection.
6. The anchoring of the posts must be adequately dimensioned through static
calculation. The required edge clearances of the base plates and in the structural
elements must be observed.
7. Heat insulation in the connection area must be carried out in such a manner
that thermal bridges are avoided.
8. Steel parts in the hidden installed area must also be treated with adequate
corrosion protection.
9. Weather protection sheets must be formed in line with the structural requirements.
Adequate rear ventilation must be ensured.

Connection in front of the floor structure
Continuous or separated posts
Depending on the structural requirements, posts are either formed continuously as multiple span girders or they are
separated floor-by-floor. Reasons for floor-by-floor post separation can vary widely, e.g. soundproofing, structural
expansion, fire protection, etc. If the separation joint is used for expansion compensation, then, in addition to the
degrees of freedom required for the posts, the slide possibilities of the installed elements must be taken into consid-
eration.
The multiple girder principle comes into effect for
continuous supports and corresponding supports from a
static perspective. There is less deflexion through
influences. As a result, the required inertia torque is
reduced, for instance, by a factor of 0.42 when using a 2-
span girder. A stress analysis is, however, always required.

Eave with glass roof connection
Different implementation variants
Implementation with stepped-edge glazing
Depending on the post formation, implementation with or without a rain gutter and the selection between stepped-
edge glazing or closing ceiling strip, result in different implementation variants. Irrespective of the variant used, en-
sure consistent drainage of condensation and moisture on the eave.
Our thermal calculations show a somewhat less favourable isotherm shift with stepped-edge glazing compared cov-
ered glass edges.
In addition, ensure that a UV-resistant glass edge composite is selected for stepped-edge glazing. These composite
edge systems are usually silicone based and, due to their limited impermeability to gas, do not attain the same high
soundproofing and heat insulation values as traditional systems.
Stepped-edge glazing must also be structurally dimensioned against wind suction in accordance with its reduced
fixing. Additional thermal stress on stepped-edge glazing should be countered by using single-pane safety glass.

Implementation without stepped-edge glazing
Horizontal press strips hinder rainwater run-off. Our bevelled cover strips significantly reduce damming in front of the
cover strip. Ensure precise sealing of outer gasket area.
In combination with out joint seals made of butyl-lined, stainless steel plates, the glass roofing with four-sided press
strip covering also achieves a high safety standard. Ensure a continuous inner gasket level which provides safe drain-
age for condensation.

Connection to the roof
When connecting to structural elements, movements that may occur should be taken into consideration. In addition to
temperature-induced linear expansion of the facade, all linear expansion and movement of the tangential structure
must also be taken into account. Addition stress must be prevented.

Connection to installed eave
This connection is suitable for glass roofs which are placed on structural elements such as a skylight. These can be
gable roofs, pitch roofs, pyramids or arched roofs.
Connecting foils
The connection of glazing to the structural element requires carefully thought-out construction in many regards. Mois-
ture damage also occurs if room moisture condenses on existing thermal bridges. Consequently, thermal bridges
should be avoided and warm room air should be prevented from penetrating too far into the construction or structural
element. The required vapour barriers, in the form of vapour-tight connection foils, must be brought as far into the
room as possible. This prevents condensation from the room air dampening the construction. An additional foil for
rain impermeability must be vapour permeable (mandatory). Dry construction can only be guaranteed in the transition
zone if this foil has a vapour diffusion resistance factor of maximum 3000 µ.

Ridge formation
When forming the ridge cap, ensure that the rafter covering strips are pulled under the ridge cap. The cutouts of the
cover strip in the sheet covering must be kept narrow. A foil capable of vapour diffusion that is bonded with the upper
glass edges prevents water from penetrating.

Ridge connection to wall
Ensure vapour impermeability for ridge connections. If the inner gasket area leaks, warm air with high water retention
penetrates into the colder zones and allows moisture to penetrate into the connection construction thus leading to
construction damage.

Horizontal wall connection
Building connection:
Thermal bridges must be avoided through adequate insulation. A waterproof foil that extends into the room-side as far
as possible prevents room moisture from condensing in the construction. An outer foil is not necessary if the connec-
tion planning so allows.

Facade corner formation – outside corner
At prominent points such as glazed facade corners, ensure that there is sufficient heat insulation to avoid thermal
bridges and the hazard on condensation formation. Heat flow calculations provide information on actual heat losses.
