Personal learning

I can easily remember the day when I had first seen the course outline of hrm,

but at that time I was not aware of the fact that it is going to be a thrilling

subject. I remember the day when I attended the very first lecture of the same,

and today the subject got over still I am unable to realize that really how

speedily the syllabus got over. The reason is not the way that I could not make

out anything from it, rather it was much interesting. The way & the

methodology by which the same was taught were really appreciating. As we

had expected it would require a lot of labour to cover the entire syllabus it

came really true. It was a 100hrs journey with a lot of interactive sessions. The

way it was designed, I think the main focus of the course was not to make a

student aware about the hr practises or theories with theoretical knowledge only

rather it was also aimed to focus on its practical applications. As it is really acourse which is very hard to learn and if we cant remember then how can we

apply the same. I can substance my view with an example as-

Simulation of recruitment process was the main application based exercise that

we had undergone through this course. The whole simulation phase was so

designed that we came to learn a lot about the recruitment process. It was full of

learning experiences. While undergoing through this activity we came to realise

that how recruitment is done & how important it is for both the recruiter & for

them who were recruited. After the recruitment got finished we also cameacross the training module and we also applied it and whole group was included

in that activity and every one had gained learning from the activity .The most

important part of the learning from the course is the way in which every new

concept was presented in front of us .Any new concept never created any

problem for me while understanding it and this was mainly due to innovative

teaching methodology that was followed by our eminent prof Alok while

teaching us this subject

In this course we came across different important concept of hr practises which

will help us a lot in coming future like human resource planning ,performance

appraisal, hiring,evaluation and management ,training practices,

Compensation & Benefits etc. though it is difficult to say truth but actually

when i tried to read the chapter which was to be covered on the same day,before

going to classes it was difficult to understand these concepts but when these

concepts were taught in the class with the help of excellent slides filled with

with quantum of knowledge ,these concept became really easy for me to

understand and grasp whatever was taught.

The course was designed in such a peculiar way that it had hardly left any

corner of hrm untouched rather it touched almost all the corner of hrm ranging

from training and recruitment process to e hrm which is not only going to help

those students who are the students who are going to take hr as their

specialization but also to them who studied it for the last time. As whatever has

been taught are common topics whose concept are required in almost every

section of management.

While undergoing through the course another important learning of mine is

regarding case study and its presentation. We learnt how to make video

presentation. The purpose by which this course was designed was never

attainable without the innovative case study that was practised by us. Whiledoing case study we came to learn how to do case analysis, which is the main

part of the same. In this process only we learned to give our recommendation

and to test the strength of our recommendation through different types of

evidences and during this only we learned to use the database which will

certainly help us in our summer project.

Though we got such a genius prof & a different way of teaching by him despite

we were not able to give our 100% as some other courses were equally difficult

and time consuming. A part from that it was great learning experience whichhad created a sense of excitement in me regarding this same. All that we learnt

was only due to our genius prof Mr. kumar Alok.
