As per the details, during routine checking/search of the trains at Railway Station Katra, GRP personnel /search party noticed unattended bags lying in the train. On this they informed SHO Police Station GRP Katra and SDPO Railways Katra which rushed to the spot, searched the bags and found 232 bottles of Onerex syrup and 17 bottles of Wincerex syrup, SHO Police Station GRP Katra Inspector Narinder Singh seized these bags and handed over to Dy. Controller of Drugs Katra under proper procedure, for further appropriate action. Drug peddler nabbed with brown sugar STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Police on Saturday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 50 grams brown sugar from his possession. As per the details, on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, a police party led by SHO Ramban Insp Vijay Kotwal under supervision of DySP Hqrts Ramban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Adll.SP Sanjay Parihar laid a surprise Naka near Mihar and during checking inter- cepted a person which on seeing the police started fleeing from the spot to avoid checking. But the alert cops appre- hended him. On thorough search of the suspected person, police recovered 50 grams of brown sugar like substance from his possession. The accused identified as Azad Ahmed, son of Sanaullah Ganai, resident of Brarinag Anantnag was arrested and a case vide FIR No 60/19 under sections 8/21/22 of NDPS act stands was registered against him at Police Station Ramban. Excise sleuths destroy 600 kg of Lahan STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Excise Department destroyed 600 Kgs of Lahan during different raids carried out to arrest the menace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor in Excise Range Kathua. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner M. Raju and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu S. Amarjeet Singh, the Excise Team comprising of ETO Eradication Virender Singh Billawria and ETO Rafie Naik along with Inspector's Excise Razi Ahmad, Tariq Aziz, SI Amit Sharma , Sanjeev Kumar, Neel Raj Gupta, Naveen Sharma and Excise Guards Rajinder Singh, Shamsher Dev Singh, Hans Raj, Sanjeev Sharma ,Pawan Sharma, Tarseem Singh , Sanju Kumar raided the Tarf Sanji, Chardyala, upper Saktachak & Ladhuchak areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. In the process more than 600 Kgs of Lahan raw material of illicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from state land & later destroyed on spot. 39 vehicles seized, many Challaned STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: In a major crackdown against drivers involved in violation of traffic rules and regulations, Jammu and Kashmir police seized 39 vehicles and Challaned a number of others during a two-hour long drive in Rajouri town. On the directions of SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas, teams of police headed by Additional SP Liyaqit Ali' DySP Headquarters Govind Rattan, SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider, SHO Women police station Rajouri, Sushma Thakur and Incharge PP Rajouri city, SI Suresh Sharma laid traffic checking nakas at Gujjar Mandi chowk, Khandli bridge, Salani bridge, old bus stand and workshop bridge respective- ly. During this two hours long special drive, 39 two wheelers were seized as the same were found plying on roads with their drivers in violations of rules. Alongside, 96 vehicle driv- ers were also challaned for different violations of MV Act. SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas has appealed guardians and parents of minor children not to allow them to drive vehicles before the prescribed age of 18 years and possess a license issued by motor vehicles department. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Police on Saturday booked 52 persons for not depositing their licensed weapons in local police stations even after order issued by District Magistrate Rajouri and subsequent notices served by local police stations. An order in this regard was issued by District Magistrate Rajouri on 1st of March 2019 and all the licensed weapon holders were asked to deposit their weapons in local police stations in view of forth com- ing parliamentary polls. Although majority of licensed weapon holders got deposited their weapons in police stations but some peo- ple paid no attention to the order even after police served them reminder through notices. SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas when contacted told that the persons against whom cases have been registered will face cancellation of their licenses and the matter shall be taken up with the District Magistrate in due course of time.
