Gray County 4-H members shined at this year's Big Fun in D1 Spring Roundup
Fashion Show! Congratulations to Clara Robison who participated in the Junior
Casual Construction and placed 2nd in Cotton Natural fibers; Dylan Robison
who placed 3rd in Junior Specialty Construction and 1st in Cotton Natural
Fibers; Nicky Price who placed 2nd in Junior Casual Buying; Jacee who placed
1st in Intermediate Dressy Buying; and Samantha who placed 1st in Intermediate
Specialty Construction . Also, our Intermediate team Intermediate team that
placed 1st in the District Big Fun in D1 Roundup Duds to Dazzle contest on
Thursday. They competed in the Jewelry/Accessory category. The Educational
Presentation participants who competed in the District 4-H Big Fun in D1 Spring
Roundup Educational Presentation competition. Hannah Porter placed first in the
Open Category. Savannah and Jacee Sellers placed 1st in Open FCS! We are so
proud of you!Geranium Sales
Geraniums will be here Thursday, May 4th! We all need to be
prepared to volunteer an hour or more of our time to help sell
them in the United parking lot. North Fork, Clover kids and
Soaring Eagles will sell on Thursday and Lefors, Air Rifle and
Shotgun will work on Friday. Please call the office if the day
assigned will not accommodate your schedule.

CLUB NEWS
Soaring Eagles 4-H Club
Soaring Eagles will meet at their regular time on
Friday, May 5 in the cafeteria of the school.
North Fork 4-H Club
Meeting will be May 9th at 6:30 at Annex. The Sellers are in charge of refreshments.
Clover Kids 4-H Club
Clover Kids will meet on Monday, May 1 at 5:30 for their last
meeting. Please remember to bring what you signed up for at
the previous meeting!
Lefor’s 4-H Club
Lefor’s Club will meet Wednesday, May 24 after school in the
cafeteria.

Air Rifle Meetings continue to meet Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
Air Rifle
The archery project will continue to meet every Monday at 6:00 p.m. The Gray County
Archery contest will be held on May 15. The District 1 Competition will be held at our
facility on May 20. It is going to be a great month!

Dog project will meet at the Bull Barn on Sunday, May 7th @ 6:30, this is the deadline to
register for the State Dog Show. On Sunday. May 21 at 5:00 we will meet again with
everyone in the project. On Sunday, May 28 at 5:00 we want all STATE DOG SHOW
PARTICPANTS ONLY to attend in order to prepare for the state contest.

Vet Science will meet Thursday, May 18 at the new Gray County Vet Clinic. If

Shotgun project will meet every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Pampa Trap and Skeet center.

Three Gray County 4-H Team Eagle shooters were recently presented with National Rifle
Association qualification awards earned over the last several months. All qualifications are under
the auspices of the American Rifleman Air Rifle, 10 meter, 3-position course of fire. The American
Rifleman Qualification program is a progressive course of fire requiring shooters to meet nationally
defined scoring criteria in each of the prone, kneeling, and standing positions.

When: June 12-13, 2017 - 12:00 p.m. Check-in on June 12.
Where: Mesa Vista Ranch, Cottonwood Lake. The Ranch entrance is north of Pampa or south of Perryton
on Hwy 70. Entrance to the Ranch will be at the double gates just south of the river bridge on west
side of Hwy 70.
What: Basic fishing instruction, fishing tournament
Age: Must be in 3rd grade September 1, 2016. Clover kids (8 years of age and under) must be ac-
companied by older 4-H sibling and parents.
Fee: Registration and the $35.00 per participant fee for youth and adults must be made via 4-H
Connect on the D-1 website: http://d14-h.tamu.edu/ Registration will open May 8 and close on
June 2. The fee includes dinner, breakfast, snacks, program supplies, limited medical insurance
and fishing access. Registration will be limited to the first 100 youth registered. Agents
please register on 4-H Connect – fees will be waived.
Tournament Rules:
Age Divisions:
(a) 9-10 years old (b) 11-12 years old
(c) 13-14 years old (d) 15-18 years old
☞1 pole per angler
☞Awards will be based on the total length of the 5 largest fish caught.
☞Ties will be broken by the number of fish caught.
☞Registration required by June 2, 2017.
☞All fish must be caught on a rod and reel, no saining or dip netting.
☞This is a catch and release tournament.
☞No fishing allowed until tournament starts.
☞Final tournament rules will be announced before the tournament starts.
☞First Time Camper Award (Third Grader) goes to largest fish caught by youth who attends Fishin N Fun for the
first time.
Chaperones
Counties must provide their own chaperones (gender appropriate) for each child. All adult volunteers must be a
Screened 4-H Volunteer and must have completed the Child Protection training on 4-H Connect by regis-
tration deadline.
Additional Information: Bring your own fishing poles and tackle. Bring all available life jackets. Each county will compete for the Traveling Trophy Team Championship. Winner will be calculated by team total inches. Team will consist of participants from each county. All required forms must be turned in to JR at camp check in. The forms may also be found on the District 1 website: http://d14-h.tamu.edu/events/field-stream-project/
A designated area for swimming, wading, etc. will be established. No one shall be swimming in any area except
the area designated as swimming area.
Brycen Epperson, Connor Hampton and Hallie Hampton competed at the Texas 4-H
Extravaganza in Brownwood, Texas and they all did wonderful. Connor placed first in the
Intermediate 3-D Archery and first in Intermediate Hunting Medley. Brycen placed first in
Junior 3-D Archery and second in Junior Hunting Medley. Hallie did great as well competing
in the Jr. Compound basic Archery! Unfortunately, we were unable to get a photo of Hudson
Gavin, but he did wonderfully has well and placed 11th in the aforementioned shoot! Being
able to travel and compete in these contests have been wonderful for all of the youth enrolled
in our archery project. Keep it up! We are proud of you all!
