4-H Futures and Features
ACHIEVEMENT LUNCHEON
Mark your calendars to celebrate all of our 4-H accomplishments on Sunday, August 7 for
our Achievement Luncheon. Make plans to attend now! If you have not already turned in a
Project Record, please do so now so that you may receive your year pin. If you want an
Award Medal, now is the time to work on your Recordbook. Also, stop by the Extension
office download from website and pick up a copy of the Points Book to earn your participa-
tion gift from the Parent-Leaders Association. All Project Forms, Recordbooks, and Points
Books are due in the County Extension Office on or before Tuesday, July 5 by 5:00 p.m. If
you need help or do not know where to locate these documents, please call Joan!

Date of final qualifying shots: May 2, 2016
One final NRA Qualification award was presented at the
end of the shooting to a Gray County 4-H member under
the auspices of the American Rifleman Air Rifle, 10 meter,
3-position course of fire. The American Rifleman
qualification program is a progressive course of fire
requiring shooters to meet nationally defined scoring
criteria in each of the prone, kneeling,
and standing positions.
Note: Team Eagle will meet again in the fall when school
begins by kicking off the season with a fun shoot!
Family Night at Wonderland Park
THE 4-H COUNCIL WILL HOST FAMILY NIGHT AT WONDERLAND PARK FOR ALL PARTICIPATING 4-H
MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE COST WILL BE $15 PER PERSON IF WE HAVE 15 PEOPLE SIGN UP
BY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1ST. WE WILL MEET IN THE PARKING LOT TO HAVE A PICNIC AT 4:00 AND GO IN

The objectives of 4-H POWER Camp is to adopt and apply the latest
practices and research findings to everyday living, develop
self-confidence through leadership, Strengthen local 4-H units by
becoming involved in leadership responsibilities and encouraging other
youth to do so, develop positive character traits, sportsmanship,
decision making capability, and public speaking skills through
participation in 4-H activities. Workshop sessions will be on wiring,
safety, and renewable resources and energy efficiency.
4-H members should have completed 8th to 12th grade in the
2015-2016 school year. There is no county quota. We have room for
50 campers and they will register on a first come, first serve basis.
Project Budget Requests
Project budget requests are due
to the Extension office no later
than July 12, 2016. Each project
group may request funds to
support their activities for the
2016-2017 year. These funds
will be disbursed during the
budget meeting on July 19.
Depending on the amount of
money raised during the 2015-
2016 year, 4-H will determine
the amount that project groups
will be budgeted.

and Thursday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the Annex.

The Shotgun Project will meet every Tuesday night at the Pampa Trap &
Skeet Range located east of the Bull Bars at 5:30 p.m. Weather Permitting.

Shotgun Project
The Archery Project will meet on Monday, June 20th at the Annex at 6:00
p.m. If you have your own shooting equipment bring it with you so we can
look at it and make sure it is what you need and follows the guidelines of
the Archery Project. For more questions call Chad Epperson at 806-662-

The 4-H Youth Council will meet on Saturday,
June 25th @ 1:00 p.m. We will be finalizing
plans for the Achievement Luncheon and it is
important for all council members to attend.
We will also be talking about our 4-H Council
Officer Elections. The officer application is
attached in this newsletter. Please fill out and
return by June 24th.
4-H YOUTH COUNCIL
The Parent-Leaders Council will meet Tuesday,
July 19 @ 6:30 at the Annex. We will be working
on next years budget.
PARENT/LEADER COUNCIL
Council Meetings
Vet Science will resume meetings in
September. Keep an eye out for
meeting times and dates in August bulletin. Our gardening project will kick off Thursday,
June 2 at 9:00 a.m. at the Annex. We will learn
about planting, maintenance, harvesting,
maintenance, preservation, nutrition, exercise,
etc. This will be a great time for families! In order
to appropriately prepare for the first class and to
ensure we have enough supplies, it would be very
helpful if you could contact the office by June 1st if
you plan to participate.

SUMMER GARDENING PROJECT
The 4-H Council will sponsor the
County Wide Community Service
beginning at 10:00 a.m. on June 25
at the Annex. Gather your teams in
order to collect food for the hungry.

A Recordbook Training is scheduled for Thursday, June 2 @ 6:00 p.m. Bring your
4-H records and get started organizing your Recordbook.
Registration on 4-H Connect for District contest closes June 30th and recordbooks
are due in the County Extension office by June 29th at 5:00 p.m.
There have been some changes to this years format from last year. Be sure to
contact Joan for the appropriate paperwork!!!
Recordbook Training
2016 Leadership Lab
The 2016 Leadership Lab will be held June 16th
at the High Plains Retreat Center in Amarillo. Ac-
tivities will include the 2016-2017 District 1 Officer
Elections, educational and recreational activities,
a dance, leadership initiative, and much more!
Afternoon and evening activities are organized for
the entire group to promote teamwork and fun!
Registration opens May 13 and will close June 10
via 4-H Connect. The price will be $35 to attend
with additional activities optional
