Assistant Amazing Aprons Come in and try your hand (we will probably be using hand prints) at creating your own decorative design on an apron. Monday, June 13 Time: 11 a.m. to Noon Location: Legion Park Bldg., Wilber Ages: Clover Kids and 4-H’ers up to age 9 Fee: $10 per apron Instructor: Kim Peters Concrete Art Youth will complete two projects at this combined workshop! Make planters or flower pot covers with concrete. Great way to enhance an otherwise plain flower pot or planter for your porch or patio. When: Monday, June 13 Time: 1-5 p.m. Ages: 8 & up Instructor: Shari Lewis AND Pallet Flower Power Turn an ordinary pallet into a colorful vertical planter box for your yard and for the Saline county fair! Pallets will be supplied along with landscape cloth and soil/ compost. You will fill with your plant selection at home. You will need a truck or larger car’s truck to take your planter home. Google pallet flower planters for plant ideas. When: Monday, June 13 Time: 1-5 p.m. Ages: 8 & up (youth under 10 need to have parent attend) Instructor: Randy Pryor, Extension Educator Fee: $15 combined fee to attend both workshops. Both workshops held at Legion Park Bldg., Wilber Fun With Bugs Insects are very interesting and beautiful. They are found everywhere around us and help our environment in many ways. Come learn about the different types of bugs we have in Nebraska and start building your own collection for entering into the county fair. The recipes remain top secret at this time but biscuits and other goodies have been mentioned. Youth will learn from Gage County Master Gardener, Shirley Shaffer, how to design and build a miniature garden. Bring a shallow container that is no greater than 12 inches in diameter, preferably with a drainage hole, and whatever accents to put into the “scene” of your miniature garden. Google miniature or fairy garden for ideas for accents. When: Tuesday, June 14 Time: 1-2:30 p.m. Location: Legion Park Bldg., Wilber Ages 8 & up Fee: $12 (includes 2-3 fairy garden plants, soil, and gravel for the containers.) Youth will explore the basics of gardening and healthy eating while planting cilantro, making salsa and baked tortilla chips to eat as a healthy snack, and being active while playing a fun game. When: Monday, June 13 Time: 2:30-4:30 p.m. Location: Extension Office, Wilber Ages: 8 & up Fee: $10 (includes snack, container, plants and soil for growing an herb for your home kitchen or to exhibit at the fair.) Instructor: Kayla Colgrove & Nicole Stoner, Extension Educators Rocketry & Rocket Science Build your own rocket and learn how to launch it. Learn about rockets & watch video from flight cameras. Weather permitting, we will conduct example launch. When: Wednesday, June 15 Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location: Legion Park Bldg., Wilber Ages: 8 & up Fee: $15.00 (rocket & 3 engines) Instructors: Carmen Ragland & Randy Pryor, Ext. Canvas Painting Fun Learn a great technique and create your own marbled-look masterpiece with this fun canvas art project. Colors and Alcohol Ink Creations Colors mix and match, naturally and by design. Learn about the colors and using the color wheel in your wardrobe, and decorating while making a set of four Alcohol Ink coasters. Burlap & Ribbon Wreath Adorn your front door with a burlap and ribbon wreath you created. You will purchase and bring to the workshop two colors of wired ribbon and your color of burlap to customize your wreath. You will need 60 ft of 5” wide burlap ribbon and 1-2 accent ribbons at least 2” wide (must be wired ribbon). Bring a pair of scissors. Pillow Power Wanting to add something comfortable to your room or living room to liven up the space? Try your hand at sewing a pillow. Come to the office to view the pillow choices or check out this website: http://ow.ly/10k9Ci Once you have selected what you would like to make contact us for supplies needed to finish your pillow. Stuffing will be provided. You will NOT need to buy a pillow form. You can bring your sewing machine or use one from the office. Supplies: Most pillows take about 1/2 to 3/8 yards of fabric, thread, and some notions like buttons or trim if you wish to add them. Basics of Beginning Photography Discover the basics of camera lighting, and photo angles using a shadow box. Participants will learn how to put warm/cold filter hues on images without an editing app. and take photos with shape without using frames and borders. Bring the following: box (no shoe boxes) - boxes should be close to a square. Small objects for photo taking-trophies, figurines, jewelry, trinkets. If jewelry, you need a stand to pose it. Also, bring camera (no cell phone cameras) and a flashlight or phone light.
