Come and celebrate the success of your 4-H’er! The achievement party is a time to recognize the hard work and dedication of everyone in the 4-H program. Bring your family and join us for a fun night!

4-H Project Completion

4-H’ers must submit a 4-H story to complete their 4-H project year (4-H age only, and optional for Clover Kids). Your 4-H story is a very important part of your 4-H record each year and by completing this story, you have successfully completed your 4-H project year. You only need to submit one story, regardless of the number of projects you enrolled. This story may be hand written or typed, and should not exceed two pages in length. Forms are included in this mailing or can be downloaded at - http://boone-nance.unl.edu/

You should include the following points in your story:

Tell what you enjoy about 4-H. Explain what you learned in your project(s)

including new skills and learning experiences. If other individuals assisted you, tell who they were and describe how they helped you.

Describe a favorite 4-H project or experience. What projects or experiences would you like to

see offered through the 4-H program? What are your future career goals or what pro-

jects would you like to take next year?

The 4-H Story is due in the Extension Offices by September 1.

**In order to be eligible for any district or state awards and a chance to attend national congress, you must fill out a career portfolio. Please contact

Sonya if you would like more information on this.**

Food & Horticulture Entries for State Fair

Horticulture and food exhibits are due in the offices on August 20th by 4:30 pm (Nance) 5:00 pm (Boone). Please let us know the cultivar and variety names of your horticulture & floriculture exhibits by August 16.

State Champions

Senior Livestock Quiz Bowl team members Roy Cumming, Carson Maricle, Cody Maricle and Dustin Andreasen outlasted their competition to capture the Nebraska State 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl title this year

with a perfect 4-0 record. This team will travel to Louisville, KY in November to compete in the National Quiz Bowl Contest.

The Intermediate Livestock Quiz Bowl team members were: Cassidy Maricle, Jean Cumming, Cody Andreasen and Aidan Choat. The Livestock Skillathon team members: Patrick Groeteke, Casidy Baumgartner, Eli Dozler, Penelope Dozler, Addy Donelson, Nicholas Groeteke, Robbie Miller, Tristin Hooker, Karlie Weis and Ryan Cumming.

Congratulations to all of these individuals for their great performance and efforts in representing Boone & Nance County while in Lincoln!

Norfolk Beef Expo - September 8

Any member of Nebraska 4-H or FFA chapter, who

is at least 8 years of age and not older than 19 years

of age on Jan. 1, 2019, is eligible to show.

Each showman may exhibit two market cattle, with

a non-refundable entry fee of $25 per head. Entry

forms must be complete and signed by the county

Nance County 4-H Council Monday June 10, 2019

Nance County Extension Office, Fullerton

The June 10, 2019 meeting of the Nance County 4H Council was called to order by Vice President Sock at 7:07pm. Members present were Sock, Swanson, Wood, Umstead, Dubas, Warner, & Wetovick. Staff present were Pritchard & Glup. Absent were Crouse, R. Swanson, Russell, Herman and Czarnick. Pledges were recited. Excused Absences were Crouse, R. Swanson, & Russell. SECRETARY’S REPORT-Wood moved & Swanson seconded to approve as read. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT was reviewed. CWF funds were paid to UNL but balance needs to be reviewed by Wood & Glup. Incentive fund balance is down from last year at this time. Wood to write a check for $3500 to Nance Coun-ty out of our building fund. Swanson moved & Umstead seconded to approve treasurer report. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Livestock Sale Committee Report: Need to contact auctioneers & clerk. Umstead will ask Kelby Ostrander or Scott Gonsior to clerk the sale. Wetovick will ask Curtis Wetovick & Galen Frenzen to auctioneer the sale. Letters will be mailed out July 8 to potential buyers.

Trophy & Awards Committee: Pritchard will pick up the trophy & medal to be used at the fair for pictures. 2019 Incentive Fund Report: The balance to-date is $5410 vs our target of $9000. Members need to follow-

up with donors. Ag Society Report: Ag Society members will be ordering red fair shirts for their members. May need to ad-

vertise shirts for sale in the newspaper & maybe ask for donation to the building fund. Grants & Improvements: Cornhusker grant for $200-$300 dollars could help with wall displays and roaster.

Glup will check with David Ciancio about permanent eye hooks with wire for wall displays. She will see if he has any ideas & cost.

Food Stand: Council members were good with same menu as last year. May add popcorn & sno-cones. Reminder - No Clover Kids in food stand this year and 3 hour shifts. 4-H families will need to bring a pie, brownies, or scotcharoos this year. Thursday, July 25 will be a limited menu and hours. Council mem-bers suggested opening at 7:30am and closing at 9pm Friday thru Sunday of the fair.

Hamburger Bash: Patties will be made on July 24th-Entry Day. We have 125 pounds of donated beef. We will have a $5 per plate charge with a donation jar for the building fund. Pritchard will reserve the grill.

Jr. Camp: There was no pool this year but came up with fun ideas involving a water tank, tarps, and kiddie pool. There were over 90 campers & 16 counselors. It was a fun time.

Building Committee Report: Council members toured the progress of the new building before this meeting. Completion date is set for July 17. Water line has not been started yet.

NEW BUSINESS:

Pre-fair cleanup: Set for Wednesday, July 17 at 5pm. We will need to do yard work, dust indoors, & clean kitchen.

County Fair Support Thank You Ad: Council would like to run in both newspapers again this year. We need to check into cost of inserts put in the papers to save money.

Other Business: July 23 is Clothing Day with M. Swanson to help volunteer; July 24 is Check-in Day with Dubas to help volunteer; & July 25 is Judging Day with Sock to help volunteer. We should setup a table with t-shirt samples & order forms by the kitchen at the fair.

The next Council meeting will be July 17 around 6 or 6:30pm if needed. The August Council meeting is set for Au-gust 13 at 6pm. Wood moved & Dubas seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:14pm. Christie Warner 4-H Council Secretary
