Philosophy of a Student

As a student, I plan on doing exceptional work in order to further my writing ability.

-I like to do a sufficient job on work instead of doing what is necessary.

-Knowing what the professor wants and emulating that throughout my work is another importantaspect.

When writing, the bare minimum is not good enough in order to gain something through the class.

Types of Correspondence

When I communicate to others I typically will use e-mail, cellular phone, or use letters if I can't contactthe individual. E-mail is my most frequent correspondence tool especially when I need to ask my

professor a question. With e-mail, it is very informal and easy to communicate to a professor that might

 be difficult to talk to.

I also use e-mail to talk to my previous employer and family in Ohio. Due to my employers older age,

the only technology he has mastered is e-mail and the internet. This communication allows me to stayon top of various landscaping projects he is completing and different electrical work that his company

is doing. I also use my cell-phone in order to relay a message or ask a question that needs an answer

immediately. I most frequently would do this when planting shrubs at work. Due to the intricate

methods of landscaping, it was common to forget where to put the plants and flowers. A simple call tomy boss allowed for an easy, informal response in order to finish the job.

Letters are another type of correspondence that I frequently use. In order to start a project at work, Ihad to relay the message through a letter to the foreman of our union. Since he arrived at work at 5am

and I didn't have to arrive till 7, I would leave a letter at the end of the day to tell him what we needed

to complete on the job. This is a very timeless and effective form of communication due to how lettersto superiors have a formal setup and design. I liked to do this because my company became more

 productive and efficient.

Although I mentioned a few types of communication I use, there is a myriad of choices whencorresponding to others.

Job Adversity

1. You have had no Jobs

If I never worked at a job in my life, I would definitely show how much I want to work and besuccessful. I would highlight traits of a strong work ethic, leadership, integrity, and accountability.

Although many companies require some form of "past-experience", a highly enthusiastic applicant

might be given a chance to work.

2.You have worked as a baby sitter, or you have cut grass in your neighborhood.

Both of these jobs aren't as "top-tier" as an actual "job", however, they still lay the groundwork for good work ethic. Being a baby sitter or cutting grass carries responsibility and should definitely not be

laughed at during the employment process. Everybody has to start somewhere.

3.You have been fired from a job.

I wouldn't argue my point for being fired, instead, I would mention how things didn't work out and Ihave learned from the past. Although being fired is a black-mark for the re-employment process, you

might have been wrongly fired or be able to demonstrate your new understanding.

4. You have had five or more jobs in one year.

This bulleted point is a slap in the face to the self-employed and skilled trade population. Due to the

bad economy, I personally have worked with laid off loggers, electricians, and excavators who wouldtake up any job opportunity that they could find. Although the question is more based on the transfer of

jobs, I would make mention of how I gained various qualities of good work ethic through my various

jobs. Also, job transfers and lay offs are common reasons for a "new" job.
