WELCOME TO NORDIA 2020IN MALMÖ 4-6 SEPTEMBER 2020

It is with great pleasure I’m looking forward to Nordia 2020. The preparations are proceeding very well thanks to our well-established team. In addition to a great number of exhibits, we are also pleased to present many extremely rare international items.

Some of the highlights:

• The Club de Monte Carlo is showing some of the most exclusive stamps in the world

• Ringströms museum is participating with exclusive items

• In the Invited Exhibits class, what is probably the world’s largest collection of Skilling Banco is displayed

• Svensk Posthistorisk Dokumentation (SSPD) is celebrating its 50th annivers-ary with a special exhibit

Nordia 2020 will be a gathering point for enthusiasts of stamps and postcards from all the Nordic countries. We are also expec-ting visitors from all over Europe and from the USA. The Royal Philatelic Society Lon-don is taking the opportunity to arrange a few seminars as well as a dinner at the Malmö Live conference centre. The Euro-pean Academy, AEP, will on the Saturday at 14.00 – 16.00 hold lectures. Also non-members are welcome.

Nordia 2020 will take place at the Malmö-Mässan Convention Center, just thirteen minutes by train from Copenhagen Airport! Visiting the exhibition couldn’t be easier

whether you live in Sweden or in another country. The premises are well lit and of-fer plenty of space as well as a hotel right across the street, the Malmö Arena Hotel with a skybar on the 16th floor featuring panoramic windows in all directions. Here you will get a unique view of Malmö and Öresund.

The exhibition includes Court d’Honneur, the Championship class and all competi-tion classes according to the regulations for Nordic exhibitions. Examine about 1,000 frames of philatelic items, expand your collection with bargains from about thirty retailers, fill your stomach with good meals and drinks from the restaurant. What more could we offer?

NORDIA 2020 is a Nordic Philatelic and Postcard exhibition that is arranged by Malmö Filatelistförening in cooperation between several philatelic societies within the Swedish Philatelic Federation (SFF) in collaboration with the other Nordic Philatelic Federations. The exhibition will take place 4 – 6 September, 2020

Approved byThe exhibition is approved by the Swedish Philatelic Federation (SFF). For the exhibition, Regulations apply to stamp exhibitions in Sweden, approved by the Swedish Philatelic Federation (SFF) or Sveriges Fimärksungdom (SFU) and this special regulations appro-ved by The Board for Jury and Exhibition Matters (UK).

INFORMATION TO THE EXHIBITORS

The mounting of your exhibit will start in the exhibition hall on Wednesday 2 Septem-ber as soon as the frames have arrived. The dismounting will start immediately when the exhibition has closed at 15:00 on Sunday 6 September.

Take part in the mountingAs an exhibitor you may take part in the mounting as well as the dismounting of your exhibit/s according to instructions from present representatives of the exhibi-tion management.

If you wish to mount your exhibit by yourself it should preferably be done on Wednesday 2 September between 14:00 – 19:00. According to the regulations you are also allowed to mount on Thursday 3 September between 08:00 – 12:00, but due to the great number of exhibits the jury would be grateful if you can do it on the Wednesday. Thank you for considering this.

According to the regulations all exhi-bits must be in the frames on Thursday 3 September at 13:00. If you are bringing your exhibit by yourself, please let the Commissioner know, according to the in-structions at the entrance. Please also be ready to identify yourself.

If you wish to change already given infor-mation about your handling of your exhi-bit, please contact the Commissioner Mr Peter Wittsten.

Meet the juryAn important part of the development of your exhibit is the meeting with the jury. Therefore you are able to meet your jury on Sunday 6 September between 10:00 – 12:00. You will get further information about this in the next news mail.

Tell us about your exhibitYou have the possibility to talk to the visi-tors about your exhibit during the exhibi-tion, which is much appreciated. More in-formation about this will also be provided in the next news mail.

The exhibition catalogue and next news mailWhen you are receiving Bulletin 2 we are fi-nalizing the exhibition catalogue. At the end of July we will send you the catalogue to-gether with further important information.

Banquet with palmarèsThe banquet with palmarès will take pla-ce on Saturday 5 September at 19:00 at Malmö Arena Hotel, located just across the street from the exhibition hall! Please see separate invitation!

If you want to take part, please pay SEK 700 according to the instructions. You can pay this separately or add it to the amount on your invoice. Do not forget to state your name on the payment.

Payment of feesEnclosed please find your invoice for the exhibitor as well as the frame fee and any insurance premium. Payment within 20 days net.

Custom clearanceAll non-Swedish exhibits shall be delivered to the respective country commissioner who is responsible for delivery to Malmö and all potential custom clearances.


Malmö Arena HotelMalmö Arena Hotel is our first recommen-dation and it is adjacent to the Exhibition building. Just walk across the street. The hotel is newly built and has a sky bar with a view of large parts of Skåne and Denmark.

We have reserved most of the hotel and received good agreed prices. From SEK 895 per night including VAT.

Parking There is plenty of parking next to the hotel and the exhibition. All parking is subject to a surcharge fee.

Close to everything Both the hotel and the exhibition are approximately 300 meters from Malmö/Hyllie train station. Here you will find Copenhagen/Denmark trains, domestic trains, local ”Pågatåg” and ”Öresundståg”.

UNIQUE ITEMS ARE EXHIBITED!

At Nordia 2020, the Club de Monte Carlo will exhibit over thirty philatelic items which are among the rarest in the world.

Bahamas. The only strip of four known in used condition of the first stamp of this ar-chipelago issue from 1859. It is the largest multiple recorded. A major piece from the Caribbean Islands in exceptional quality.

Iceland. The most beautiful of only 16 co-vers known with the first issue of Iceland. Sent from Ökrum 1873 with 4 skilling and the only one of these covers cancelled in nearby Hjardarholt. A Nordic “crown jewel”.

Norway. A fantastic and unique telegram envelope with three copies Oscar I 8 skil-ling sent by and cancelled on board the steamer “DAMPSKIBET BERGEN”. One of the great Scandinavian maritime mail rarities.

Sweden. The first stamp 3 Skilling Banco with the spectacular error “TOE” instead of “TRE”. Only around a dozen copies are known and this one in a strip of three to-gether with two normal stamps is unique.


Naples. The famous ”Savoy Cross” ½ tornese stamp in combination with ½ grana first is-sue stamp paying for three newspapers in December 1860 before the new Italian stamps had arrived. A great postal history rarity in exceptional quality.

Lombardy & Venetia. The fiscal stamp of 75 centimes of the 1854 issue is known with inverted printing of the center value figure. This document from Udinese is a magnificent example of this exceptional rarity used for postage.

The Gold Coast. Letter written 1842 in the Danish Fortress Christiansborg on the Gold Coast (now in Accra, Ghana) by a Danish civil servant and mailed to his family in Co-penhagen. A historical rarity.
