CINCO DE MAYO ESSAY CONTESTWHAT IT MEANS TO YOU, YOUR FAMILY

AND NEW MEXICO/TEXAS?WHO - All Elementary and Middles school students living in Anthony New Mexico or Anthony Texas, and/orBerino, Chamberino, Chaparral, La Union, Mesquite or Vado NM are eligible and encouraged to participate.

WHY Many families celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but we want to know what the holiday means to you, yourfamily and the people of New Mexico and Texas. All essay writers and their parents will have the opportunity to

join us at the Women's Intercultural Center in Anthony, for a free lunch and awards of prizes, promptlybeginning at noon- on May 5th.

So win prizes, have fun and meet with local elected officials at the awards ceremony!Every student will receive a certificate of recognition for submitting his/her essays.

HOW to ENTER Follow the rules below, and enter online.

Lots of books and gamesEvery student who enters an essay will receive a personalized certificate

at a special award event which includes a complimentary buffet lunch on May 5 th.

Contest Rules: Eligible students must reside in Dona Ana County and be enrolled in GISD or Anthony, Texas schools.

Essays must be original and written by the student entering the contest. One submission per student.

All essays must be typewritten and submitted in a PDF or MS Word format.

Entries must include student's name, school, grade, address, email address and/or phone number.

Essays must be sent as an attached file to essay@andeletutors.com. Subject line of your email mustinclude the following: CINCO DE MAYO Essay by _______ (your name).

Deadline for submission is 5:00 pm on April 29, 2013.

Winners will be notified by email on May 3rd, 2013, and announced on May 5th.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - Essays must be no less than 100 words or more than 150 words. You may writeabout:Why you believe CINCO DE MAYO is important to you and your family (Essay limit - 150 words) OR:Why you believe CINCO DE MAYO is important to the people of New Mexico and Texas (Essay limit - 150words)

MIDDLE SCHOOL Essays must be no less than 200 words or more than 250 words. You may write about:Why you believe CINCO DE MAYO is important to you and your family (Essay limit - 250 words) OR:Why you believe CINCO DE MAYO is important to the people of New Mexico and Texas (Essay limit - 250words)
