• Have you ever done like the boy in the picture and played the I’m not touching you game?

• Do you still play this same game with a result that is much worse than a parent’s scolding?

Try to Get as Close as Possible

• Do we try to get as close as we can to sin without actually touching it?

• Do we try to be like Lot in Genesis 13:11-13?

• Notice Peter’s description of Lot in 2 Peter 2:7-8.

Deny We Have Sin?

• Do we think that we do not have sin in our lives?

• 1 Corinthians 10:13 – sin is common to man

• Romans 3:10-12; 23 – none are righteous all have sinned.

• 1 John 1:8 – If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves.

• 1 John 1:10 – we make him a liar.

Try to Hide Our Sin

• Adam in Genesis 3:12 – tries to blame others

• Cain in Genesis 4 – tries to hide fact of sin.

• David in 1 Sameul 11 & 12 – cover-up sin of sleeping with Bathsheba

• Ananias and Saphira in Acts 5 – lie about amount given to church

• Romans 2:16 – The secrets will be judged.

How to Get Away from Sin

• Proverbs 28:13 – The one who covers sin will not prosper, but the one who confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

• Acts 22:16 – Wash away sins.

• 2 Cor. 5:17 – Put off old and put on new.

• Rom 6:4-6 – Rise and walk in newness of life.

• 1 John 1:7 – Walk in the light

How to Get Away from Sin

• Acts 8:22 – Simon the sorcerer told to repent

• James 5:16 – Confess sins

• 1 John 1:8 - Confess sins

• 1 John 2:1-2 - My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

Conclusion

• Are we trying to play a dangerous game with Sin?

• Are we trying to get as close as we can without sinning?

• Or are we simply fooling ourselves because we know that we are already involved in sin?
