I would be in direct competition with XXL and Vibe magazine. XXL is published by Harris Publications I chose to publish my magazine with EMP because I can see a gap in the market where they don't sell many music magazines and do not sell any Hip-Hop or R&B magazines this could make more money for EMP or then again it could be big mistake but I believe they would be making a good move by publishing my magazine because my magazine has the potential to be up there with XXL and competing against them to be the number 1 selling Hip-Hop magazine. Also they don't sell XXL in the United Kingdom so if my magazine starts off by publishing in the UK then things can move on from there and I will gain a huge advantage by XXL not being sold in the UK and potentially my magazine could make a lot more money for EMP. I will steal readers from other Hip-Hop magazines that are all ready out there and also attract new readers that don't normally chose to buy magazines, for example I like Hip-Hop and listen to it all the time and follow some of my favorite artists on twitter and keep up on the news on them. I go into Tesco or Sainsbury’s and I fancy buying a music magazine a Hip-Hop one and I cant find one so I don't bother. and I’m sure there are more people out there that do and think the same, that’s why my magazine will make money and sell. My magazines unique selling point (USP) is that there are no successful Hip-Hop magazines in the UK that can appeal to a wide audience also my unique layout and presentation will interest more people to buy my magazine. Because the UK audience have seen no Hip-Hop magazine in a long time this will be something new for them to encounter.

I would need to advertise in my magazine to be making a profit for myself I would advertise the conventions of my genre that is relevant to Hip-Hop. For example some of the stuff that is shown on my Ichnography page such as clothes, albums, shoes and accessories and many more stuff .The ratio would be 5/3

I would advertise the clothes and the jewelry in my magazine because this is what my target audience would be interested in and some will wear the clothes I am advertising.

Also if I advertise similar clothes and accessories as the artists in my magazine wear then this will make the audience want to buy the products more as they have seen some of there idols or favorite artists wear them so they will copy them.

Since magazine sales are declining in the UK, with the growth of technology like I-Pad and Macs but I think this could help the sales of magazine sales even though it is easier just to download it. I will have a website along with my magazine and I shall use it to persuade people to go out and buy my magazine I shall only have exclusive things on my website such as if I’m interviewing artists I shall have exclusive behind the scene clips on the website but the main story would only be presented in the magazine this may well persuade people to buy the magazine to read the story only if they have seen the clip on the website. The website would be free to every one and it doesn't matter if your a subscriber or not but all the main production would only be in my magazine that you can buy in stores only but I will make it that if you have an I-Pad or IPhone you will be able to download the magazine but it will be priced a bit more expensive than it would be buying it in stores E.G the magazine in stores is only £2:50 if you are looking to download it, it would be £2:75 this is for getting it on to the market on the app store and also to persuade people to buy it in stores more.
