What is Source Citation? Whenever you quote, paraphrase, summarize, or
refer to the work of another, you are required to cite its source.
This means that you have to state
where the information comes from.
For example, this definition comes from the Duke University Libraries website.

Why is there a need to cite sources? The source of information is stated to give credit to
the author(s) or creator(s). It acknowledges their effort in
producing that piece of work.
Not citing or acknowledging the source is an act of plagiarism.
To plagiarise means to take someone’s work or ideas and pass them off as your own.

Source Citation In IPW, you will be required to conduct
research on your project. When you use the information found, you
should give credit to the author(s).
There are many ways of
citing sources. Here are
some examples:

Source Citation in your Report At the end of every section, you are required
to copy and paste the links of the websites you used.

Source Citation in your Report The links will be used to check for plagiarism. 3 lines or more of lifting from a source is plagiarism.
