1. All the configuration and modification will be done on globle configruation mode.

2 .From privilege mode, we can perform following task:

(a). we can see contents of RAM, NVRAM & IOS.

(b). we can copy RAM, NVRAM & IOS.

(c). we can reboot the router softly.

3. From user exec mode, we can see only limited information.

How to change Host name ?

Router > enable

Router # configure terminal

Router (config) # hostname RA

RA(config) # hostname NCP

NCP(config) #

How to set enable password?

NCP(config) # enable password noida

NCP(config) # exit

NCP # exit

Now router display Messages Console 0 is now available Press Enter

NCP >

NCP >enable

Password: (Enter password noida)

After type the password noida you will get privilege mode.

NCP #

If we run show running-config command on privilege mode then password will be displayed.

NCP # show running-config

(The old method was to use the enable password command. But this is not secure (weak encryption) and is ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED. DO NOT USE!)

How to set enable Secret Password ?

NCP(config)# enable secret ccna

NCP(config)# exit

NCP#logout

NCP > enable

Password: (Enter password ccna)

Here enable password noida will not be accepted, enable secret password ccna will be accepted due to High priority over enable password & also not visible in

#show running-config.

How to set console Password ?

NCP(config)# line console 0

NCP(config-line)# password 1234

NCP(config-line)# login

NOTE:- If we do not write login consol password will not activate.

How to set Telnet Password ?

NCP(config)# line vty 0 4

NCP(config-line)# password 789

Note :- Telnet password is use to access REMOTE DEVICES & it must be configured on REMOTE DEVICES.

How to set exec time of router window?

NCP (config)# line console 0

NCP (config)# exec-timeout 0 0

How to set Banner ?

NCP (config)# banner motd @ WELCOME TO NCP @

Note:- It will display before login into Router

How to stop broadcast of wrong command ?

NCP (config)# no ip domain-lookup

How to configure IP Address on Router interfaces?

Before configure IP address on interfaces we must know current status of router interfaces via #show ip interface brief Command on privilege mode .

NCP# show ip interface brief

NOTE:- By default all the port of router are Administratively down.

We can configured IP on Cisco router interfaces in following ways:-

MANUAL

NVRAM

TFTP

DHCP

How to configure IP Address on Ethernet port ?

NCP(config)# interface ethernet 0

NCP(config-if)# ip address 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0
