1. Status quo analysis• The design philosophy for

RESPECT implements amulti-disciplinary approachto the issues underinvestigation. It bringstogether serving or ex-policeand intelligence officers withengineers, securityspecialists, IT/privacylawyers, sociologists as wellas experts in consumerbehaviour, marketing and e-government.

2. Citizen attitudes

• RESPECT uses quantitative andqualitative research methodologies to carryout a study aimed at establishing theattitudes of citizens to most forms ofsurveillance and privacy

• Criteria for fairness covering efficiency,proportionality, privacy and data protection
