The third five year plan(1961-66) according topriority to agriculture, primarily to increase the

production of wheat,consequently,punjab began

producing an abundance of wheat. This plan

gare a social objectives and took for reaching

steps for their realization.

Thus this plan took a long term view of

development so,that Indias economy must notonly expand rapidly but must at the same time

become self redient and self generating.

sufficient economy.The plan showed clearly

that agriculture was the main stay of the

economy and neglecting .i would be dangerousfor the economy ,hence top priority was
