    This m ultim edia projector is used to project various com puter signals as w ell as

    N TSC / PA L / SEC A M video signals onto a screen. Little space is required for

    installation and large im ages can easily be realized.

    1Turn off the projector, and unplug the power cord. Allow the

    lamp bulb to cool for at least 45 minutes.

    2After making sure that the projector

    has cooled adequately, slowly flip

    over the projector, so that the bottom

    is facing up.

    3Put the base on the bottom of theprojector, as shown in the fugure.Then slide it to the back of theprojector until it locks into position.To remove it, slide the base to thefront of the projector pinching thelever of the base.

    4Slowly turn the projector so that the top is facing up.

    Arrangement

    WARNING Install the projector in a suitable environm ent according to

    instructions of the Product Safety G uideand this m anual.

    The pow er outlet should be close to the projector and easily accessible.

    Refer to the illustrations and tables below to determine the screen size and projection

    distance.

    The values show n in the table are calculated for a full size screen:800600

    Adjusting The Projector's Elevator

    CAUTION If you press the elevator buttons w ithout holding the projector, theprojector m ight crash dow n, overturn, sm ash your fingers and possibly result in

    m alfunction. To p revent dam ag ing the p rojector and injuring yourself, A LW A YS H O LDTH E PR O JEC TO R w henever using the elevator buttons to ad just the elevator feet.

    You can use the elevator feet to make adjustments if the surface on which you need to set

    the projector is uneven or if you otherwise need to adjust the angle of projection. The

    adjustment range of the elevator feet is 0 to 9 degrees.

    1Press and hold in the elevator buttons.

    2Raise or lower the projector to the

    desired height and then release the

    elevator buttons.W hen you release the elevator buttons, the elevator

    feet w ill lock into position.

    3As necessary, you can also finely

    adjust the height of the projector by

    twisting the elevator feet by hand.

    Connecting Your Devices

    WARNING Incorrect connecting could result in fire or electrical shock.

    W henever attem pting to connect other devices to the projector, please thoroughly read

    the "Product Safety G uide", this m anual and the m anual of each device to be

    connected.

    CAUTION TU R N O FF A LL D EVIC ES prior to connecting them to the projector.

    A ttem pting to connect a live device to the projector m ay g enerate extrem ely loud

    noises or other abnorm alities that m ay result in m alfunction and/or dam age to the

    device and/or projector.

    ATTENTION M ake sure that you connect devices to the correct port. Incorrect

    connection m ay result in m alfunction and/or dam age to the device and/or projector.

    R efer to the section TEC H N IC A Lof this m anual for the pin assignm ent of connectors

    and R S-232C com m unication data.Som e cables have to be used w ith core set. U se the accessory cable or a

    designated-type cable for the connection. For cables that have a core only at one end,

    connect the core to the projector.

    Secure the screw s on the connectors and tighten.

    W henever attem pting to connect a laptop com puter to the projector, be sure to

    activate the laptops R G B external im age output (set the laptop to C R T display or to

    sim ultaneous LC D and C R T display). For details on how this is done, please refer to the

    instruction m anual of the corresponding laptop com puter.

    About Plug-and-Play CapabilityThis projector is com patible w ith VESA D D C 1/2B . Plug-and-Play can be achieved by

    connecting this projector to com puters that are VESA D D C (display data channel)

    com patible. Please take advantag e of this function by connecting the accessory R G B

    cable to the rgb port (D D C 1/2B com patible). Plug-and-Play m ay not w ork properly if

    any other type of connection is attem pted.

    Plug-and-Play is a system com posed of the com puter, its operating system and

    peripheral equipm ent (i.e. display d evices).

    Please use the standard drivers in your com puter as this projector is a Plug-and-Playm onitor.

    NOTE

    Som e com puters m ay have m ultiple d isplay screen m odes. U se of som e of

    these m odes w ill not be possible w ith this projector.

    For som e R G B inp ut m od es, the op tional M ac ad ap ter is necessary.

    W hen the im ag e resolution is changed on a com puter, dep ending on an inp ut,

    autom atic ad just function m ay take som e tim e and m ay not be com pleted . In this case,

    you m ay not be able to see a check box to select Yes/N ofor the new resolution onW indow s. Then the resolution w ill go back to the original. It m ight be recom m ended to

    use other C R T or TFT m onitors to change the resolution.

    1Connect the connector of the

    power cord to the AC inlet of the

    projector.

    2Firmly plug the power cords plug

    into the outlet.

    WARNING Please use extra caution w hen connecting the pow er cord as

    incorrect or faulty connections m ay result in FIR E and/or ELEC TR IC A L SH O C K . Please

    adhere to the Product Safety G uideand the follow ing.

    O nly p lug the pow er cord into outlets rated for use w ith the pow er cords specified

    voltage range.

    O nly use the pow er cord that cam e w ith the projector. If it is dam aged, contact your

    dealer to new ly get correct one.

    N ever m odify the pow er cord. N ever attem pt to defeat the ground connection of the

    three-pronged plug .

    M ake sure that you firm ly connect the pow er cord to the projector and w all outlet.

    Im proper use m ay result in battery cracking or leakage, w hich could result in fire, injuryand/or pollution of the surrounding environm ent.

    Keep the battery aw ay from children and pets.

    Be sure to use only the batteries sp ecified for use w ith the rem ote control. D o not m ix

    new batteries w ith used ones.

    W hen inserting batteries, verify that the plus and m inus term inals are aligned correctly

    (as indicated in the rem ote control).

    W hen you dispose the battery, you should obey the law in the relative area or country.

    ATTENTION D o not drop or otherw ise expose the rem ote control to physical

    im pact.D o not get the rem ote control w et or place it on w et objects. D oing so m ay result in

    m alfunction.

    Rem ove the batteries from the rem ote control and store them in a safe place if you

    w ont be using the rem ote control for an extended period.

    Replace the batteries w henever the rem ote control starts to m alfunction.

    W hen strong lights, such as direct sunlight or light from an extrem ely close range

    (such as from an inverter fluorescent lam p), hit the projectors rem ote sensor, the

    rem ote control m ay cause to function. A djust the direction of the projector to keep light

    from directly hitting the projectors rem ote sensor.

    The rem ote control w orks w ith the projectors rem ote

    sensor.

    The range of the rem ote sensor is 3 m eters w ith a 60-

    degree range (30 degrees to the left and right of the

    rem ote sensor).

    A lso a rem ote signal reflected in the screen etc. m ay be

    available. If it is difficult to send a rem ote signal to the

    sensor directly, please try.

    Since the rem ote control uses infrared light to sendsignals to the projector (C lass1 LED ), be sure to use the

    rem ote control in an area free from obstacles that could

    block the rem ote controls output signal to the projector.

    WARNING W hen the pow er is O N , a strong light is em itted. D o not look into the

    lens or vents of the projector.

    Turn the pow er on/off in right order. Please pow er on the projector before

    the connected devices. Pow er off the projector after the connected devices.

    NOTE

    1Make sure that the power cord is

    firmly and correctly connected to the

    projector and outlet.

    2Set the power switch to [ | ] (ON).

    3 Press the button of the projector orthe remote control.

    The p rojector lam p w ill light up and the power

    indicator w ill begin blinking green.

    A ccording to a setup, the projector lam p m ay light

    up and the powerindicator m ay b egin blinking

    green, w ithout pressing this button.

    W hen the pow er is com pletely on, the indicator w ill

    stop blinking and light green.

    The powerindicator w ill light orange.

    Turn the pow er on/off in right order. Please pow er on the projector before

    for approxim ately 5 seconds.

    Adjusting The Position

    1 Press the POSITION button.

    A s illustrated on the right, a dialog w ill appear on the screento aid you in adjusting the position.

    2 Use the , , , buttons to adjustthe position.W hen you w ant to initialize the position, press the R ESET

    button during adjustm ent.

    Press the P O SITIO N button again to close the d ialog and

    com plete this operation. (Even if you d on't do anything, the

    dialog w ill autom atically disappear after a few seconds.)

    This function is only available for R G B input.

    W hen a m enu is displayed, the operation of adjusting the position w orks

    for the position of not the picture but the m enu.

    NOTE

    Selecting The Aspect Ratio

    1Press the SEARCH button.C ycle through input signals, displaying the im ages of retrieved signals. Ifno signal is found, returns to the signal that w as selected before the search

    w as begun.

    M ay not function properly w ith som e input signals.

    The signal searching function takes about 10 seconds to display an im age.

    PROGRESSIVE

    Select the Progressive Mode:

    This function perform s only at an interlaced signal of a VID EO input, a S-

    VID EO input or a C O M PO N EN T V ID EO input of 525i or 625i signal. The FILM

    m od e is adap tab le to the 3-2 Pull-D ow n system to the conversion.

    W hen the TV or FILM is selected, the screen im age w ill be crisper. B ut it m ay

    cause a certain defect (for exam ple, jagged line) of the picture at a quick

    m oving ob ject. In such a case, please select the TU R N O FF, even thoug h the

    screen im ag e m ay lose the crisp.

    This function m ay cause a certain degradation of the picture. In such a case,

    Operating The PC Screen

    D o not unplug the connector cables w hile the com puter is operating.

    It m ay not be possible to control notebook PC s, and other com puters w ith built-in pointing devices (e.g.

    track balls), using this rem ote control. In this case, before connecting go into B IO S (system setup) and

    select external m ouse, and disable the p ointing devices. In addition, the m ouse m ay not function if the

    com puter does not have the need ed utility prog ram . See your com puters hardw are m anual for details.

    Lamp

    The projector uses a high-pressure m ercury glass lam p. The lam p can break with aloud bang, or burn out, if jolted or scratched, handled w hile hot, or w orn over tim e.N ote that each lam p has a different lifetim e, and som e m ay burst or burn out soon afteryou start using them . In addition, w hen the bulb bursts, it is possible for shards ofglass to fly into the lam p housing, and forgas containing mercury to escap e from theprojectors vent holes.

    About disposal of a lamp This product contains a m ercury lam p; do not put intrash. D ispose of in accord w ith environm ental law s.For lam p recycling, go to w w w .lam precycle.org. (in U SA )For product disposal, contact your local governm ent agency or w w w .eiae.org (in the

    If the lam p should break (it w ill m ake a loud bang w hen it does), unplugthe pow er cord from the outlet, and m ake sure to request a replacem entlam p from your local dealer. N ote that shards of glass could dam age theprojectors internals, or cause injury during handling, so please do not tryto clean the projector or replace the lam p yourself.

    If the lam p should break (it w ill m ake a loud bang w hen it does), ventilatethe room w ell, and m ake sure not to b reathe the g as that com es out ofthe projector vents, or get it in your eyes or m outh.

    Before replacing the lam p, m ake sure the pow er sw itch is off and thepow er cable is not plugged in, then w ait at least 45 m inutes for the lam pto cool sufficiently. H andling the lam p w hile hot can cause burns, as w ellas dam aging the lam p.

    D o not open the lam p cover w hile the projector is suspended fromabove. This is dangerous, since if the lam ps bulb has broken, theshards w ill fall out w hen the cover is opened. In addition, w orking in highplaces is dangerous, so ask your local dealer to have the lam p replacedeven if the bulb is not broken.

    D o not use the projector w ith the lam p cover rem oved. A t the lam preplacing, m ake sure that the screw s are screw ed in firm ly. Loosescrew s could result in d am age or injury.

    U se only the lam p of the specified type 78-6969-9743-2.If the lam p breaks soon after the first tim e it is used, it is possible thatthere are electrical problem s elsew here besides the lam p. If thishappens, contact your local dealer or a service representative.

    H andle w ith care: jolting or scratching could cause the lam p bulb toburst during use.

    If the indicators or a m essage prom pts you to replace the lam p (see the

    section Related M essagesand R egarding the indicator Lam ps),replace the lam p as soon as possible. U sing the lam p for long periods oftim e, or past the replacem ent date, could cause it to burst. D o not useold (used) lam ps; this is a cause of breakage.

    1Turn off the projector, and unplug the power cord. Allow the lamp

    bulb to cool for at least 45 minutes.

    6Insert the new lamp, and tighten the 2

    screws firmly to lock it in place.

    Slide the lamp door into place, and tighten the screw of the lamp door firmly.

    Slowly turn the projector so that the top is facing up.

    3After making sure that the projector

    has cooled adequately, slowly flip

    over the projector, so that the bottom

    is facing up.

    4 Unscrew the screw of the lamp door,then slide and take the lamp door up.

    2 Contact your local dealer to prepare a new lamp. Tell the dealeryour lamp type number. If the projector is mounted on the ceiling,or if the lamp has broken, also ask the dealer to replace the lamp.

    9Turn on the projector, and reset the lamp timer. When the lamp hasbeen replaced after the message of THE POWER WILL TURN OFFAFTER 0hr. is displayed, complete the following operation within10 minutes of switching power on.(1) W hile the projector running, press the M EN U button to open the m enu.

    (2) C hoose the O PTIO Non the m enu using the / button, then press the buttonor EN TER button.

    (3) C hoose the LA M P TIM Eusing the / button, then press and hold the buttonof projector or the RESET button of rem ote control for 3 seconds.

    Air Filter

    Caring For The Air FilterThe air filter should be cleaned about every 100 hours. If the indicators or a m essage

    prom pts you to clean the air filter (see the section Related M essagesand Regarding

    The Indicator Lam ps), clean the air filter as soon as possible. If the air filter becom es

    clogged by dust or the like, internal tem perature rises and could cause m alfunction.
