    Two of the most discussed Internettechnologies are 3G & Wi-Fi.

    This two technology reflect fundamentally.

    3G is the wireless technology, which comeswith enhancement over previous wirelesstechnology like high speed data transmission &global roaming.

    Wi-Fi is a another type of wireless technologythat allows device to communicate without anycords or cables.

    3G refers to the 3rd GENRATION telephonytechnology.

    3G is a technology for mobile serviceproviders. Mobile services are provided byservice providers who own Frequency band inwhich they can transmit the data at the speedsaccordingly the bandwidth.

    3G evolved in Five stages.

    Wi-Fi is the popular name for the wirelessEthernet 802.11b standard for WLANs.

    A Wi-Fi-enabled device, such as a personal

    computer, laptop, video game console,Smartphone or digital audio player, canconnect to the Internet within range of awireless network.

    Range is about 100 meters.

    Wi-Fi uses 2.4 GHz frequency band.

    3G and other mobile technologies use licensedspectrum, while Wi-Fi uses unlicensed sharedspectrum.

    Even though they both uses wirelessbroadband technology, the key distinctions are

    1. Wi-Fi is used for larger and personalizedapplication whereas 3G is generally forcommercial use mainly by Mobile operators.

    2. The speed of 3G is up to 21mbps as of nowwhereas Wi-Fi are able to operate on 100mbpswireless LAN.

    1. both technologies are likely to succeed in themarketplace. This means that the future ofWireless Internet lies in both Wi-Fi and 3G.

    2. we expect 3G mobile providers to integrate Wi-Fi technology into their networks, which willallow them to transmit data at up to 100mbps.

    3. we also expect Wi-Fi to offer competition to 3Gproviders because of the lower entry costs.
