Broadband Wireless Network
For business-critical broadband speed, Beeper’s wireless 3G/4G Internet line-bonding router delivers mobile bandwidth-on-demand. The router combines multiple 3G/4G Internet access links into an aggregated multi-WAN broadband connection, with a Wi-Fi interface. The IE-4000 is the next generation of Beeper’s RG4000X and is fully backwards compatible.
System OverviewThe standalone network 3G/4G multi-channel bonding router delivers reliable, load-balanced Internet access by aggregating up to four 3G/4G links into a unified high-bandwidth connection. It combines multiple Internet 3G/4G access lines, and/or Wi-Fi, into a single aggregated Internet access line on an Ethernet interface and/or Wi-Fi. The aggregation over the Internet access lines can even be performed for a single session, and successfully provides the full aggregate speed. In addition, in order to increase capacity, the IE-4000 can be connected to another IE-4000, as a daisy chain.
For instant high-speed Internet, network administrators can use this mobile 3G/4G bonding router to set up a Wi-Fi mesh in minutes. Employing IP-link bonding, the multi-channel virtual private network (VPN) capabilities provide tens of megabits per second of high-availability bandwidth, aggregated from multiple load-balanced 3G/4G connections.
Beeper’s mobile 3G/4G bonding router is a modular device, which can be configured with a Wi-Fi access interface incorporating hardware encryption.

General Functionality
Backup of landlines
The cellular interfaces offer a backup path ‒ completely
independent from permanent services ‒ for mobile
access as well as the network.
Stand-alone solutions
Automated devices such as ATM kiosks or cash dispensers
can be quickly and securely deployed, without changing
the communications interface or the central system.
Machine-to-machine communications (M2M)
Tele-measurement or remote diagnostic systems
(generically known as SCADA) and the conversion
or adaptation of the necessary interfaces benefit
enormously from the ubiquity and rates of cellular
services.
Temporal/Mobile, urgent deployments, and deployments on areas without fixed coverage
The provisioning time of a cellular line is zero, rendering
this access an ideal solution for temporal or urgent
applications. It is also useful for applications on areas
without additional telecommunications service, such
as construction areas, trade shows and inside vehicles
(trains, busses, limousines, boats, and more).
Video over 3G/4G (Cellular)
Applications requiring remote video transmission, such
as remote monitoring, become viable as a result of the
3G/4G speed. Video applications can use the cellular
network for flexible transport.
The IE-4000 consists of encoders and decoders that can
extend or record up to 1080p60 video and audio quality
over a standard IP network, at user-defined low bitrates,
with excellent quality and minimal network bandwidth
consumption. The IE-4000 encoder streams or records
high-quality video and audio, using the H.264 video
compression standard. It can stream to Server, Beeper’s
AC-8000, decoders on any device or PC that supports the
required network protocols. In addition, the IE-4000
can record to a shared network or NAS drive. A robust
software application is included with the hardware and
is used to remotely discover, manage, and adjust the
IE-4000 network, enabling administrators to seamlessly
define multiple stream parameters and balance network
bandwidth consumption and quality. Programmers
also have the ability to integrate current features
into existing applications or create new, independent
software to meet their specific needs.

ApplicationsThe IE-4000 distributes and records high-quality video
and audio with applications in healthcare, automation/
production, education and training, security, banking,
transportation, and dynamic digital signage. In
addition, the IE-4000 can serve collaborative video
wall and control room environments by simplifying
the distribution and integration of data and video. In
control rooms, the IE-4000 can serve as a seamless,
standardized IT solution to deliver desktop, video, and
other content to the video wall as well as share operator
display outputs, desktops, and applications.
Extremely cost-effective, the IE-4000 takes full
advantage of existing and standardized commercial-off-
the-shelf (COTS) IT networking equipment and networks
within these environments. In many cases, the IE-4000
can run video and audio on existing data networks
without requiring any special segregation or network
management. Both data and high-resolution video can
be transferred with extremely low bandwidth, producing
superior quality results. The need for high-quality,
low-bandwidth video distribution on non-proprietary,
standardized IT equipment is currently in high-demand
for many application areas. The IE-4000 can serve ProAV
installers and integrators as an excellent, versatile, and
cost-effective solution for their entire product portfolio.
Distribute and SwitchMultiple Video Streams over the NetworkIE-4000 units support cost-effective one-to-one
unicast, one-to-many unicast, and one-to-many
multicast streams over a standard IP network using
off-the-shelf networking equipment. An integrated
network switch on the decoder enables IE-4000 daisy-
chaining and/or network extension. When deploying
IE-4000 encoders and decoders, users and operators
can choose to encode as many streams as their network
bandwidth can accommodate and each decoder can
capture and display all of the streams available. All
channels can be both seen and heard at each decoder
via “virtual” network-based matrix switching. The
ability to operate on standard 100/1000Mb Ethernet
networks at low bandwidth can be seamlessly leveraged,
so that the IP network can perform the switching with
no additional equipment and with easy-to-use stream/
channel identification for smooth and effective channel
switching.

DPI and PCRF Capability
Network Intelligence is one of the keys to maximizing
Average Revenue per User (ARPU). Armed with real-time
knowledge information about traffic characteristics and
demand in their network, segmented by application,
user, and time-of-day, operators can deliver customized
services that provide high value to specific customers.
In addition, real-time application-level analysis of
network traffic, including advanced heuristics or
pattern recognition, allows operators to defend their
networks against ever-more sophisticated security
threats and attacks.
The built-in DPI technology provides a solution both to
the subscriber expectations and the operators’ needs
to maximize ARPU. DPI-based networking equipment
looks deep into a packet’s payload in order to classify
traffic flows based on their application, as well as to
capture appropriate application-specific content from
those flows. Once the equipment has access to that
information about the application and the content, it
can perform networking functions such as forwarding,
security, usage analysis, traffic management, resource
allocation, QoS and billing.
The network intelligence provided by DPI enables
these functions to be performed with much more
sophistication than in traditional networking equipment
where decisions are based only on the packet header.
By using the IE-4000, operators will have access to
a wealth of information as a result of data mining,
profiling and analytics. All of these are key to the creation
of personalized service packages based on a deeper
understanding of customers’ needs.
The Policy and Charging control functions provide
operators with advanced tools for service-aware Quality-
of-Service (QoS) and charging control. Within the
network, the Policy and Charging Enforcement Function
(PCEF) identifies and associates applications and/or users
with specific traffic flows, applying policies to individual
sessions based on requirements defined by a network
element called the Policy and Charging Rules Function
(PCRF).
Architecturally, the PCRF function is not defined as part of
the specifications, but as an option. The PCEF interfaces
with the PCRF and Packet Data Network Gateway (PGW), is
part of the Beeper’s AC-8000.
The IE-4000 was designed to provide an integrated
solution that addresses different challenges. Network
equipment providers can benefit from proven
interoperability between complementary technologies as
a result of the tight integration between the company’s
products. The providers have the ability to add Network
Intelligence capabilities and IE-4000’s advanced,
multicore packet acceleration to any solution. The result
is reduced time to market for advanced mobile, cyber
security and network applications.
