1G - * Known as Analog Mobile Phone Systems (AMPS).* It was based on circuit-switched technology and designed for

voice, not data.

2 G - * Mostly based on Circuit Switched technology.* These are digital and expand the range of applications to

more advanced voice services.

3 G - * Its ability is to unify existing cellular standards such as CDMA, GSM,and TDMA under one umbrella.

* It represents the convergence of various 2G wirelesstelecommunications systems into a single global system .

4G - * 4G visions take into account installed base and past investments.* Faster data transmission and higher bit rate and bandwidth.

5G - * 5G wireless system is only theory and not real .* 5G is a completed wireless communication with almost no limitation.

4G is a research item for next-generation wide-area cellular radio, where youhave 1G, 2G, 3G and then 4G [and 5G]

4G is a conceptual framework and a discussion point to address future needsof a high speed wireless network

It offer both cellular and broadband multimedia services everywhere Expected to emerged around 2010 2015.

4G should be able to provided very smooth global roaming ubiquitously withlower cost.

Theoretically, 4G is set to deliver 100mbps to a roaming mobile device

globally, and up to 1Gbps to a stationary device. With this in mind, it allowsfor video conferencing, streaming picture perfect video (i.e. tele-medicine,tele-geo processing application etc.)
