UKRAINE

Project basics

• Project name: "Summer camp"• Location: Mariupol • Project dates: 01.06.2010 (Preferred) -

31.08.2010 (Preferred)• Duration: min 6 Weeks, max 8 Weeks• Working hours: – From 9:00 To 15:00 with a total of 30 hours per

week. – Saturday work sometimes

Project description: summer camp focuses on developing the personalities of the participating children and young people and expanding their world view.

Accommodation, meals: provided in the camp

Main tasks

– Cultural education of Mariupol pupils and students. You should deliver information about your culture to the pupils and students to ensure that world hasn't borders;

– Deliver information about ecological problems of the world and your country;

– Deliver information about solutions of ecological problems;

– Organize events about ecology.

Preparation

• Preparation before arrival: to prepare info about ecological problems in Latvia and how we cope with those problems.

Transportation

• How to get there– No direct flights from Riga, but still themost convenient wayof travel is by plane.

• Approximate costs for travel:– Flight Riga-Donetsk-Riga now costs 240-280 LVL– Distance from Donetsk to Mariupol – 100 km.

Transportation

• Alternative – train from Riga via Moscowto Donetsk– Transit visa for Russia – USD 70– Riga-Moscow train ticket LVL 45-80– Ticket prices from Moscow to Donetsk vary a lot –

starting from LVL 30-60, and higher.

Legal issues

• Vaccination against Hepatitis A and tick-borne encephalitis is recommended

• Remember about health insurance!

• Necessary documents: valid passport. No visa is required if you enter the country for a period up to 90 days.

Living there• Living expenses: – similar to Latvia and other Eastern Europe countries; – However, Mariupol is a resort and in summer it might

be more expensive; – Currency Hryvnia (1 UAH = 0.0667 LVL= 0.097 EUR)

• Population of Mariupol – approx. 0.5 million people, located near Azov sea

• Climate is moderate-continental, average temperature in July is 23’C

Craiova:

• Craiova, the fifth largest Romanian city and capital of Dolj County, is situated near the east bank of the river Jiu in central Oltenia. It is a longstanding political center, and is located at approximately equal distances from the Southern Carpathians (north) and the Danube (south). Craiova is the chief commercial city west of Bucharest and the most important city of Oltenia.

• Project name: Summer camp• Location: Karaganda • Project dates: 10.06.-01.08.2010• Duration: min. 6 weeks, max 7 weeks• Working hours:– From 9:00 To 18:00 with a total of 40 hours per

week; – Saturday work sometimes

• Accommodation, meals: provided in the camp • Project description: summer camp for children

and youngsters on diverse topics – culture, English language, personality development.

Main tasks

• Make presentation about intern's country and cultural peculiarities;

• Work with children (aged from 8 to 15 years) in groups as a team-leader in summer camp;

• Participate in common camp events, realization of prepared program of groups' leading;

• Organize English-teaching classes or speaking clubs, teaching English

Preparation

• Prepare presentation of the country, culture and traditions (power point presentations, music, clothes, food, drinks, flag, brochures, books, etc.);

• Read and prepare materials in such topics as: – self-discovering, leadership; – time management and presentation skills; – team management

Project #2 basics

• Project name: English teaching in School of free development "ALTER"

• Location: Karaganda • Project dates: 01.06.-01.08.2010• Duration: min 6 weeks, max 8 weeks• Working hours:– From 9:00 To 18:00 with a total of 45 hours per

week; – Saturday work none

Project description

• Main task: Teaching English to children• Accommodation, meals: accommodation and

food (3 meals per day) provided. • First week is orientation - during this week

you will be given basic information about Kazakhstan, trainings about leadership, facilitating and project management skills; tour around the city and a visit to the capital of Kazakhstan.

Preparation

Prepare to deliver (what? & how?) the English language and knowledge to the children, students

• Population of Karaganda – approx. 0.5 million people (4th largest city), located in a rather industrial area

• Climate is semi-arid, continental, average temperature in July is 20’C

CROATIA

• Necessary documents: valid passport. No visa is required if you enter the country for a period up to 90 days.

Living there

• Living expenses: – similar to Latvia and other Central Europe countries, a bit more expensive than Riga; – Currency – Kuna, 1 HRK=0,13 EUR

• Croatia has a mixture of climates. In the north and east it’s continental, Mediterranean along the coast and a semi-highland and highland climate in the south-central region.
