Humble leaders

• We need occasional reminders that it is God who gives His people power and position

• God commands His people to remember His blessings in both bad and good times. Deut 8: 1-20.



God constantly reminds leaders of …

• The privilege of being a chosen people- God will lead and provide us

• The price of being a chosen people- we must rely on His provision, not our own



God gives grace to the humble, but opposes the

proud. James 4: 6

repent when wrong• They don’t have to project their self-

worth, defend their every move, or make excuses for their failures

• In the end, God rebuke Job’s friends and rewarded Job- but not until the end



The benefits of Humility

• Beware of treating followers unjustly• God reserves a stern condemnation

for oppressive leaders. Isaiah 10:1-6. The Messiah will come to serve, not to be served

• God perfectly illustrates servant leadership



A contrast in pride and humility. Daniel 2: 1-28

• Nebuchadnezzar threatens to kill magicians

• He embodies pride and arrogance

• Daniel steps forward , yet refuses to accept personal glory

• He honours the God of Heaven



No matter who the leader is – God still rules. Hosea 14: 1-7

• Wise leaders seek to make good decisions, but realize the outcome remains in God’s hand

• Leaders merely manage what God owns

• Leaders are in charge, but God is in control

Leaders know authority comes from God, not from within

• Michael the archangel did not combat the enemy on his own authority, but spoke in the name of the Lord. Jude 9

• Faith enable leaders to stretch, while humility enables them to stoop



Prayer Focus• Father, In the name of Jesus, I

surrender myself to walk in the Word. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen
