HOW IT ALL BEGANAt the ripe age of 19, Barbara from Niagara Falls, NY & Mike

Sivells from Hopkinsville, KY began working together at theRadisson Hotel; Mike a bellman and Barbara a waitress. Loveflourished and their lives began. Getting established and startinga family were dreams the couple shared, along with Mike’spersonal endeavor of one day owning his own BBQ restaurant.Sunday evening drives were the blueprint for their vision, eachword that was uttered and each mile that they drove, their dreamstarted to take shape. 17 years of small talk ideas, restaurantnames, types of food and the location provided a strongfoundation for the couple’s utopia restaurant. Life quicklyhappened for the once young, dream driven couple, and afterjuggling 2 children, full time jobs & the hustle and bustle ofeveryday life, the idea of becoming restaurant owners and puttingMikes dream in play became less of a reality. Until one day theperfect location with the most ideal components became availablejust a short mile from their residence. They both knew this 1896log cabin would provide the ultimate atmosphere for their oldfashioned, real pit bbq vision. Mike walked into then Smith’s Floriston a Monday afternoon and walked out a proud owner of a BBQrestaurant. Shack in theBack BBQ opened theirdoors on September15th, 2006 and the restwas history…
