The Voice Announcement function allows you also to hear who is calling!To make the most of all the features of your BeoTalk 1200 it is necessarythat you subscribe to the Caller ID service offered by your telephone company.

Installation of BeoTalk 1200
InstallationBeoTalk 1200 can be either placed onthe table or mounted on the wall usingthe enclosed bracket and screws.
BeoTalk 1200 should not be placed industy or dirty environments, nor beexposed to direct moisture.
Wall mounting• Mount the wall bracket using the
enclosed screws.• Lead the cord down through the slot
on the back of BeoTalk 1200.• Lead the cord behind the pin on the
wall bracket so that the cord is heldagainst the wall.
• Place BeoTalk 1200 on the wallbracket.
Connection• Connect the cords as shown on the
drawing.• Plug in the telephone cord.• Connect the net adapter to the
telephone wall socket.
If you want to extend the cords, pleasebe aware that only the cord from LINEto the telephone network can beextended. Exchanging the other cordswill affect the functions of BeoTalk1200.

Recording an announcementWith BeoTalk 1200 you have the possibility of recording 3 different typesof outgoing announcements:• Announcement Only… ( ) One-way

The News functionNews may be messages, calls with CallerID in the form of Voice Announcementor just the phone number, or Internalmessages. News are shown in the illuminated display:
A new number and/or VoiceAnnouncementsA new number with a message.
At the same time a flashing digit (max. 9)will tell you how many News you havereceived. If the phone number has more than 10digits, the index number will not beshown. BeoTalk 1200 can handle up to 13digits.
Even though BeoTalk 1200 has received acall and is actually playing anannouncement, at any time you can cutin and continue the conversation bylifting off the handset of your telephone.
The phone numbers and the messages, ifany, of the 50 latest calls received are sto-red in the News list.
All numbers from which you have recei-ved a call are transferred to the Newslist - even when the answering machinefunction has been deactivated.

You can choose to deactivate the function showing unread News if youe.g. have a telephone with anotherNews indicator. If the News indicator is deactivated, the symbols and willstill be shown in the display to indicateNews, but the display will not be illuminated and there will be no flashing digit showing the number of News.
Storing NewsIn some cases you may wish to saveNews which you have played in orderthat the next user of the BeoTalk 1200will find the News as “new”. News willonly remain “new” until played again,but can be stored again as often as youwish by using the STORE or + button.
Deleting NewsIt is not necessary to delete messagesand phone numbers from the News listafter playing them. BeoTalk 1200 automatically deletes the oldest Newsto make room for new ones.

Transferring phone numbers fromthe News list to the Phonebook
Recording announcements for no Caller ID and for phone numberswhich are not in the PhonebookIn some cases the Caller ID function isnot possible. Here the telephone company will send information codeswhich will be shown in the display inthe following ways:
-0 when no number is transferreddue to technical limitations, e.g.international calls.
-1 when the call is from a withheldnumber, e.g. an unlisted number.
You can record a “name” for each ofthese codes so that the Phonebook willstate them when these codes are sent.
Please note that the “name” you haverecorded together with code -0 is alsothe “name” that will be played if youreceive a call from a phone numberwhich you have not already stored andrecorded in the Phonebook. This may bean advantage as you will hear theannouncement instead of three brieftones.

Rejection of incoming callsIf you do not want to receive calls fromcertain phone numbers, you can enterthese numbers in the Rejection list andthus make BeoTalk 1200 reject the calls.You may also transfer a number fromthe News list or the Phonebook to theRejection list.
BeoTalk 1200 answers the calls immediately before the phone starts ringing, independently of the ringingtime that you have entered.
The call will be answered by anengaged tone. The phone number ofthe incoming call will be transferred tothe News list.
BeoTalk 1200 gives higher priority toRejection than to Group Announcement.This means that a call from the numberwill be rejected if the same numberexists in both lists.
Note!Remember to enter the area code whenyou store a phone number in the Rejection list.

Ringing timeBeoTalk 1200 answers incoming callsafter a ringing time of from 1 to 99seconds. This function is programmable. The ringing time is pre-set to 15 seconds, corresponding tothe telephone ringing 2-3 times.

Remote control of NewsWith the PIN-code you will get accessto remote controlling your BeoTalk1200.
While remote controlling it is possibleto:1. Play News2. Activate the answering machine
function3. Record outgoing announcements
It is only necessary to store a message ifyou still want it to play as a ”new message”.
It is not necessary to delete News afterplaying them. BeoTalk 1200 automatically deletes the oldest messages when there is no memory leftfor new ones.
Note!If the answering machine function hasnot been activated, up to one and ahalf minute will pass before BeoTalk1200 answers the call.

Rate saverThe Rate saver function may save youthe costs of a long-distance call whenyou remote control BeoTalk 1200 inorder to play possible new messages.
If there are new messages, BeoTalk1200 answers all calls after just oneringing tone, regardless of the ringing time you have entered.
If there are no new messages, the ringing time will correspond to the ringing time previously entered. Youwill then have time to replace thehandset before BeoTalk 1200 startsanswering the call.
To be able to use the Rate saver, thefunction must be activated on BeoTalk1200.

CapacityTotal speech time of 15 minutes foroutgoing announcements, messagesreceived and Internal messages. With 15minutes’ total speech time the VoiceAnnouncement Phonebook has a capacity of 50 phone numbers andnames. However, it is technically possibleto record up to 75 names, but this willreduce the time available for announcements and messages to 13minutes.
MemoryWhen pressing the OK button, the symbol in the display shows howmuch of the memory has been used. Thecontents of the memory is the sum ofoutgoing announcements, new messagesand names in the Phonebook.
The symbol for memory used is shownin 5 steps:
where indicates almost nomemory used, and almost theentire memory used.
When the entire memory has been filled, flashes in the display. Play the
News list to gain more space.The memory for announcements, messages and phone number lists worksindependently of any power failure.
Automatic deletion of messagesBeoTalk 1200 automatically deletes allnew messages played when more spaceis needed.
If the memory has been completely filled by new messages, BeoTalk 1200switches automatically to playing Announcement Only. If no Announcement Only has been recorded, BeoTalk 1200 plays Announcement and Message followedby a series of tones.
