Dear Parents,

Welcome to Burnopfield Primary School.

exciting one.

As Head Teacher I am extremely proud of our school and its many achievements. I

believe that learning should be fun and I’m fortunate to have staff who thinks the

same.

At Burnopfield we all work very hard and have lots of fun at the same time. Our

enthusiastic staff team have high expectations and have created a rich and vibrant

environment for learning. They have designed an exciting curriculum to engage

children in fun and varied activities to develop their learning. When you visit our

school you will see our fantastic interactive displays and the amazing work of our

children.

I believe all children have talent- our job is to find out what that talent is. Our

teachers encourage and inspire our children to develop as individuals and to have a

real desire for learning and thirst for knowledge. We ensure that every child who

comes through our door receives the best opportunity that they can, to do well and

succeed. Children at our school feel safe and secure and know that they are part of a

supportive community.

This is an amazing school and I’m proud of all my staff and our wonderful pupils.

Attendance (Academic Year 2014)Under Government legislation we must report therates of authorised absence from school. These arelisted as follows:

Authorised absence 96.6% attendance in 2014.

If your child is to be absent from school please leave amessage on the school answer machine or ring schoolbefore 10 a.m. to avoid a first day absent call. It wouldbe most helpful if school could be informed of anyoccasions requiring the child's absence from schooland, after any other absence, a letter to explain whys/he has been unable to attend school (otherwiseabsences are classed as unauthorised). We would askthat parents try to avoid taking family holidays in termtime. There are new procedures in place and holidaysmay not be authorised which can lead to legal action.

Contact FormsShould we need to contact you for any reason, particularly in case of illness, accident or othernecessary information, we would ask you to completean emergency contact form, which is issued whenyour child starts school and updated regularly. Pleasenotify school immediately of any changes, especially mobiles (e.g. in nominated contact, telephone number, and work place).

Teachers2Parents - Text MessagingServiceIn 2009 we introduced a new serviceTeachers2Parents. This enables parents to becontacted very quickly and a text message will be lefton your mobile. School requires one mobile phonenumber as a first contact so you can quickly beinformed of important information regarding yourchild.

This has included:Emergency closures e.g. weatherParents’ evening and fundraiser remindersSports team fixtures and cancellations
