Thursday 21 st May Year Three – Writing Task Under the Bridge Once upon a time there were three billy goat brothers who lived on a grassy hillside near a river. The billy goat brothers lived happily on their hillside spending their days munching grass and drinking cool water from the river. One day they discovered they had eaten all the grass on their hillside. “Oh no, what will we do now?” worried Little Goat. “Don’t worry little brother,” said Middle Goat. “Look across the river. There’s a whole meadow over there – filled with delicious grass!” “That’s right. All we have to do is cross the river and we can eat all the yummy grass we like,” agreed Big Goat. But crossing the wooden bridge over the river was dangerous! Underneath the bridge lived an awful, smelly troll and his favourite thing to eat was billy goats. Your task is to write the troll a letter to convince him to let the billy goat brothers cross the bridge and not eat them. You could explain that they need to get to the other side of the river so they can eat the delicious grass in the meadow.
