Christmas Sunday

We are celebrating! Jesus is born and wants to live in our lives and be part of our family. During this week, the church continues to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the universal church is in celebration.

This Sunday is the celebration of the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph. This week we celebrate daily that Jesus was born. How can we imitate the Holy Family? We can make some goals, for example, gathering as a family to pray for a few minutes before dinner, the family that prays together stays together. Second example; do not speak badly of someone in the family, nor disrespect each other amongst family members. Third, help and share with family, use your manners and ask for things saying "Please" and "thank you." Fourth, go to Mass on Sunday and confess regularly. This is what pleases the Lord!

We are nearing the end of this year, and beginning of next year. I would like to remind you of the importance of being registered as a member our community of St Vincent’s, please use your member envelopes each week, if you have run out please come to the parish office for more.

Next Sunday we invite you to celebrate the feast of the Three Kings; we will have a visit from the Magi that will bring gifts for the children. There will be food vendors, fun and more. No missing Mass!

P. Jose Jesus

Nativities

Pope Sixtus III in the V century (AD) and celebrated Christmas with some representations of the birth of Christ built in a church grotto made to look like the one from Bethlehem. However, St. Francis is considered as the creator of the Nativity scene. In 1223 he wanted to celebrate "Christmas Eve" in where he could relive the memory of Jesus being born in Bethlehem. For everyone to better understand the conditions in which it happened, he took the Nativity into the forest with persons who attended and it began to become popular. Over time, the lack of space forced them to replace “real people” and animals with figures made of wood or clay. This tradition was received with great affection and spread around the world since the sixteenth century. The Nativity invites us to reflect on the great mystery of God made man for love of man. Hopefully all houses would put even a small Nativity to perpetuate this Christian tradition.

No falten a Misa!
