4 PRESS KIT - DECEMBER 2017
Christelle Anya, Directrice des salons ADF&PCD
qq How is the 2018 edition of ADF&PCD PARIS shaping up ?
Everything is shaping up extremely well. Once again, the event will be full. Over 480 exhibitors have confirmed their attendance, including 129 newcomers, such as:
ADF
HENKEL - SWALLOWFIED - VELOX DIGITAL - APOLLO …
PCD
AUTAJON - CM SMART CONNECT - DB TECHNIQUE - ESKO ARTWORK - FEDRIGONI - FOILCO - HCT PACKAGING - PIBIPLAST - TOLY SARALON - VRIJDAG PREMIUM PRINTING…
Toutes ces nouvelles sociétés cherchent à se développer et certaines d’entre elles, ont choisi ADF&PCD Paris pour présenter en avant-première des innovations.
qq After all these resoundingly successful editions, what are the new developments to further the progression of this event ?
The format of the plenary conferences is changing this year. Our team has worked hard, conducting market research, meeting brands and industries, to understand their challenges and incorporate them into a high-level conference programme. The round table discussions will address global trends in Europe and the world, customer relations and regulations, and, of course, sustainable development and innovation, leading topics at ADF&PCD.
A series of fascinating subjects will thus be proposed this year to attendees during these 2 days in the form of « panel discussions » where brands, design agencies and experts will come to describe their vision and stance.
Furthermore, you will discover new events at the heart of the exhibition, like the Accelerator Zone, specifically dedicated to the start-ups selected on the strength of their innovations in terms of materials and/or substances, etc. These young companies have addressed environmental and/or economic issues, inter alia.
Or the Innovation & Technology Theatre (ITT), a conference area at the heart of the event, open to all, where exhibitors will showcase their new products in an interactive manner.
In 2016, Easyfairs bought the « Pentawards » to round off its global packaging event portfolio. As this event is now a component part of our group, we have set aside a dedicated area at ADF&PCD PARIS 2018 for the Pentawards; they are a permanent exhibition that travels around the world to present the prize-winners and thus the most surprising, innovative packaging in the world.
For the first time, ADF&PCD will be equipped with NFC+ technology !
Our exhibitors and visitors innovate, and so do we ! All the attendees will thus be equipped with « smart badges » to collect digital information at exhibitor stands and receive a summary of their visit !
qq Tell us about the ADF&PCD AWARDS given at ADF&PCD?
It is true that they are another one of the event highlights. Every year, a few weeks before the event, the numerous products in competition are assessed according to the various criteria pertaining to their category by the members of the ADF and PCD Juries. These two days are packed with exchanges and debates; it is always a wonderful, very friendly moment, and a means to highlight progress in the industry and reward the teams that worked on these projects !
You will discover new events
at the heart of the congress-
exhibition, which now comprises
over 480 exhibitors !

The conference and round table programme is so rich and varied that it cannot be summed up in just a few words. It does, however, follow certain guidelines, certain key principles which the organizers, exhibitors and visitors at ADF&PCD are deeply attached to : novelty, interactivity, expertise, passion…
Following numerous exchanges with purchasers, brand owners and suppliers in the packaging and aerosols industry over the past few months, the organizers are offering an ambitious content this year, that is ever more in tune with visitors’ needs and expectations: presentations on future trends, technical case studies, legislative updates, examples of successes and failures, prospects to overcome the challenges in the beauty, automotive or pharmaceutical industry, particularly in terms of aerosols…

The PCD conference programme returns with a revamped format and focused content with a compelling line-up of topics and expert speakers addressing the major issues the industry faces today. Most of the PCD sessions will feature several brief presentations, under an umbrella topic, largely in panel discussions. These will include presentations on future trends, chaired by Estée Lauder’s Hervé Bouix, and presented by Hint Futurology’s Helga Hertsig-Lavocah and Fashion Institute of Technology’s Delphine Horvath.
Creative Capital’s Tanguy Chen Laurent and Pozzo di Borgo Styling’s Noémie Rognon will debate how to re-invent the relationship with consumers by imagining new scenarios at the point of sale.

On day 2, L’Oréal’s Olivier de Lataulade and Pierre Ducastin will team with Force Majeure’s Laurent Hainaut to demonstrate how design can be a weapon to make packaging more innovative.
Technical case studies, legislative updates, examples of successes and failures, and solutions to meet challenges that better match visitors’ requirements and expectations will also be key topics on both days.
9h30 - 10h45
Global trends: The latest trends in beauty packaging
This session will explore the latest global trends and how
they are dominating the beauty packaging game globally.
This will also include the concept of futurology. Questioning
the status quo, challenging our preconceptions and
dreaming big, futurology is about looking at trends across
every spectrum, especially those beyond your category
horizon, and seeing how they could impact you.

Innovation funding and CSR How to save money with innovative ideas
If you want to make a company sustainable, you need to
review all its facets with an innovative vision through the lens of
CSR. These innovations must be sustainable and accountable
and include all the internal and external dimensions of the
company. This innovative vision must be fully integrated in the
company’s strategy and be led by the most senior executive.

Sustainability and digital technologies: Are digital technologies the way forward to become a more sustainable business?
Every day, we send emails, we surf the web, we archive videos,
photos or music in the Cloud. We often feel that the whole process
is immaterial and almost free, but it is not. Computer, ADSL
boxes, routers, cables, servers, storage units, telecommunication
equipment: the equipment needed is real. Just like the consumption
of energy and non-renewable resources to make and operate them.
q PRESIDENT : Vincent Gallon - PremiumBeautyNews. com
q Julien Barreau - Lush
q Maryelle Allemand - Rise Emerging Culture
11h00 - 12h00
The challenges of packaging in eCommerce: Does packaging design have an impact on business?
In an evolving retail marketplace, companies will need to
consider a lifecycle approach to designing products and
packaging to meet varying requirements of online and offline
retailers, growing customer preferences and a changing
regulatory landscape. Both online retailers and producers
will need to work together amidst this changing landscape
and take a closer look at their products, packaging materials,
processes, logistics and end of life management to drive
material efficiencies and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

q Stéphanie Havard - Procos GmbH
q Jean-Marc Megnin - Shoppermind (Groupe Altavia)
q Carine Guerbet - Neopost Shipping
q Jean-Philippe Homehr - DS Smith
15h30 - 16h30
Is design a tool for making packaging more innovative?
Demands placed on multi-action products on the market run
high and packaging must reflect their multi-functional character
in a clear, accurate manner. Product packaging design should
be such that the consumer gets the message immediately.
q PRÉSIDÉ PAR : Olivier De Lataulade & Pierre Ducastin - L’Oréal

The collaboration of brands and suppliers
Purchasing, R&D, product development and technical
packaging teams are constantly collaborating with their
suppliers to develop innovative products: co-development,
open innovation, open development. This policy enables them
to control the traceability of raw materials and packaging
components used for finished products, and to ensure
secure and steady supply chains, as well as compliance with
international labour standards and respect for human rights.
