UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION• Applications on prescribed form are invited by 12th February 2009 (19th February 2009 in respect of applications received only by post(by post) from candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu &Kashmir, Lahaul and Spiti districts and Pangi sub-division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, A & N Islands or Lakshadweep orabroad). Pay scale(Approx total emoluments excluding HRA & CCA) & upper age limits immediately follow name of the post. The date fordetermining eligibility of all candidates in every respect shall be the normal closing date prescribed for receipt of applications viz.12.2.2009.

* Age limits as on 12.02.2009. The age limit shown against S.Nos.2& 4 is relaxed age limit for OBC candidates. The age limit shownagainst all other S. Nos. is normal age limit and only in these cases age is relaxable for SC/ST candidates upto 5 years and upto 3years for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them.

* Age is relaxable for certain other categories. * Quals are relaxable at Commission’s discretion. * Sixth Pay Commission’s Report has not been taken into account in the indicated pay scales. * NOTE: Candidates with disabilities[as indicated against Item(s)] can apply to the respective posts even if the post is not reserved for

them. However, such candidates will be considered for selection to such posts by general standard of merit. Persons suffering fromnot less than 40% of relevant disability shall alone be eligible for the benefit of reservation and other relaxations as permissible underthe rules.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: NATIONALITY/ CITIZENSHIP:A candidate must be either i) a Citizen of India or ii) a subject of Nepal or iii) subject of Bhutan oriv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention ofpermanently settling in India or v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan,Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with theintention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii),(iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issuedby the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessarymay be admitted to the interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection the offer ofappointment may be given only after the Government of India has issued the necessary eligibilitycertificate to him/her.

2. The age, qualification and experience as on 01.01.2009 for the above posts areprescribed as under:

02 Probationary Officers

Minimum: 21 years Maximum: 30 years

Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with at least 60% marks in aggregate (First class) and Computer Science covering M S Word, M S Office, Excel, Access, etc., as one of the subjects at the Degree/PG level

MCA with atleast 60% Marks in aggregate (First class) OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (BE./BTech) with a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate (First Class) with Computer knowledge. 03 Probationary Clerks

Minimum: 18 years Maximum: 28 years

Qualification: A Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with at least 60% marks in aggregate (First Class) with Proficiency in Windows/MS Office, Certificate/ Diploma in Computer Operations from any recognized Institute.

OR BCA with at least 60% Marks in aggregate (First Class).

OR Degree in any discipline from a recognized University with at least 60% marks in aggregate (First Class) and computer science covering M S Word, M S Office, Excel, Access, etc., as one of the subjects.

AND Should have studied State/Regional Language as one of the language subjects atleast upto SSC/X Standard or their mother tongue should be State/Regional Language.

Note:a) In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH, minimum qualifying marks will be 55% in

aggregate, other conditions remaining the same.b) The educational qualifications prescribed for all the posts is the minimum. Candidates must

possess the educational qualifications as on 01.01.2009 (inclusive) and must attach proof forhaving acquired the qualifications on or before 01.01.2009 to the application.

c) Degree/PG degree Certificate issued by the University during the convocation shall be enclosedto the application. In case the said Certificate is not available, the Provisional Certificate issuedby the University, clearly indicating therein the month and year of passing the qualifying examination.

d) Year-wise/Semester-wise marks sheets of each year/semester in respect of the qualifyingexamination from the University concerned should be enclosed. Since reverse side of the marksheets contain the instructions, photocopies of both sides of the mark sheets should be enclosed.

e) Candidates must specifically indicate the class/division and percentage of marks obtainedcalculated to the nearest two decimals in the relevant column of the application. Where nopercentage of marks is awarded by the University, but only CGPA/OGPA is awarded, the sameshould be converted into percentage, besides indicating the CGPA/OGPA in the application.

f ) Candidates who are awaiting their results of the qualifying examination OR who have notpassed the qualifying examination on or before 01.01.2009 are not eligible. In other words, theresult of the qualifying examination, i.e., graduation/ post graduation, as the case may be, shouldhave been announced by the University on or before 01.01.2009 and the date of the passingcertificate/marks card should be on or before 01.01.2009. g) For posts where work experience is essential, it should be full time, relevant to the post appliedfor and should be post qualification i.e., the experience will be counted from the date of acquiringthe prescribed qualification till 01.01.2009. Candidates shall submit proof of having the workexperience.

3. RELAXATION IN UPPER AGE LIMIT: (In case of candidates belonging to the followingcategories)

i) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates by 5 years ii) Other Backward Classes candidates by 3 years

iii) Ex-Servicemen applying for the post of Probationary Clerks

b) In the case of a candidate who is eligible for relaxation under more than one of the abovecategories, the age relaxation will be available on cumulative basis with any one of theremaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above. Thiscumulative age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates only.

4. RESERVATIONS:A. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH/XS candidates will be provided as per Government

guidelines.B. Persons with Disabilities:

Reservation is available to Persons with Disabilities under Sec. 33 of Persons with Disabilities(Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. C. Ex-Servicemen (XS): Definition of Ex-Serviceman:a) Only those candidates shall be treated as Ex-servicemen who fulfil the revised

definition as laid down in Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dept. ofPersonnel & Administrative Reforms Notification No.36034/5/85/ Estt.(SCT) dated27.10.1986 as amended from time to time.

(g) dealing withagitating para military forces personnel (h) IPKF personnel killed during theoperations in Sri Lanka.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:NTPC Ltd. offers one of the best pay packages in the industry. Selected candidates will be placed inthe pay scale of Rs. 11225-4%-17250 at the basic pay of Rs. 11225/- during one-year training. ABOUT TEST:The All India Test is scheduled on 12.04.2009 (Sunday). The test can be taken in Hindi or English.Candidates will have to give their choice for appearing in Hindi or English at the time of applying forthe post, which cannot be changed subsequently. The test will be in two parts. Part-I will consist of120 multiple-choice questions of the relevant 6 disciplines as advertised. RESERVATIONS AND RELAXATIONS:1 Reservations and relaxations for SC / ST / OBC (non-creamy layer) / Physically Handicapped

(degree of disability 40% or above) candidates will be provided as per Government guidelines.2 Category (SC / ST /OBC/ PH) once filled in the online application form will not be changed and

no benefit of other category will be admissible later on. The reserved category candidates arerequired to submit requisite certificate in the prescribed format of Government of India, issuedby the competent authority, along with the registration slip and also at time of interview, ifcalled for.

6 The OBC candidates who belong to “Creamy Layer” are not entitled for OBC concession andsuch candidates have to indicate their category as General. The OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)candidates are required to submit requisite certificate in prescribed format of Government ofIndia, from a competent authority issued in the current year. Further, such candidates willhave to give a self-undertaking indicating that they belong to OBC (Non creamy Layer) categoryat the time of interview, if called for.

SERVICE AGREEMENT BOND:The selected candidates who belong to General and OBC category will be required to execute aservice agreement bond of Rs. 2,50,000/- to successfully complete the prescribed training andthereafter serve the company for at least 3 years. The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used fordepositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of themoney the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and a Branch Code of the bank collectingthe money.
