Template: 30-Day Checkup for Experienced Project Newcomers Purpose This template is designed to assist the project manager with identifying and responding to obstacles for those individuals who are experienced in their duties, but new to the company and/or project. This template and procedure is not designed to replace any onboarding or orientation procedure, but may be used to enhance those procedures. Instructions 1. Determine who the managers are with experienced project newcomers. Depending on the project and organization, you may choose to a. Conduct the reviews yourself b. Identify managers who are more appropriate to conduct reviews 2. After 30-90 days after the project control phase begins, arrange for the reviews to occur. 3. For each of the targeted newcomers, note the performance- related issues in column B. a. Particular open-ended questions may need to be asked, such as: 1) What difficulties have you had following our process? 2) What problem(s) has our work culture or environment caused you? 3) What obstacles have you run into? What have you done to surmount those obstacles? 4) What can I do now to improve how you use our tools and procedures? 4. List solution(s) in column C. a. These may be created in the meeting with the individual or may be determined after the meeting is over. If any information is added after the meeting with any worker, apprise the worker of updates.

5. List the required action items in column D. There may be more than one action item associated with a single issue.

6. Make notes in column E to add details to ensure the action items are defined and completed correctly.

7. Complete columns F and G.

8. Complete action items.
