REFLECTION No Shelter Lord, let our memory provide no shelter for grievance from another. Lord, let our heart provide no harbour for hatred of another. Lord, let our tongue be no accomplice in the judgement of a brother. (Irish Prayer) PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Dear Parents, Guardians and families of the All Saints’ Community, There is no doubt that everyone is struggling in some way with the warm, humid weather that is impacting upon us at present. Students are constantly being reminded to drink plenty of water, wear their school sun-safe hat, spend time in the shade and play games that are appropriate to our current conditions. Please remind your own child/ren to follow these guidelines. Year 6 Leadership Camp Last Monday and Tuesday all of our Year 6 students spent the two days working with a number of staff discussing their role as student leaders. I joined the students Monday afternoon and evening, and again on Tuesday afternoon, to share in their leadership journey. I was impressed with the way in which all students participated and shared their thoughts and ideas as to how they can be positive role-models to the other students. Congratulations and well done year 6 students! A huge thank you to the staff for coordinating and running the two days for our students: Mrs Neuendorf, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Baker, for leading the activities. Mrs Douglas, Mrs Morton, for catering for the group. I am looking forward to working with our student leaders throughout this year. Swimming: Years 3 to 6 Swimming commenced this week for all students in Year 3 to 6. There is an expectation that ALL students in these grades participate in this activity. Thank you for ensuring that the students are coming prepared: swimming gear, sun-safe shirt to swim in, swimming cap. Lessons will continue, on a Wednesday, for the next 3 weeks. (I apologise for an error on the swimming note that went home. In one section it stated that swimming would be on a Monday. This is incorrect. Swimming will only occur on a Wednesday.) Our school Swimming Carnival will be held on Tuesday February 28. More details about the carnival will be sent home soon. Information Evening: Tuesday February 7 Next Tuesday, Feb 7, classroom teachers will have the opportunity to share with parents/guardians their general classroom routines, procedures and expectations. It will also be an opportunity for parents/guardians to ask any specific or clarifying questions. This evening IS NOT about asking teachers specific questions about your own daughter/son. For this, a specific appointment needs to be made with the teacher. Format for the evening is as follows: Session 1: 6:15 – 6:45pm Early Year’s: Prep P, 1W, 2F, 2V (These meetings will be held in your child’s classroom) Session 2: 6:45 – 7:05pm All parents/guardians to gather in the Fr Ellis Clifford Hall, an opportunity for school Admin Team to speak to the whole community Session 3: 7:05 – 7:35pm Middle & Upper Year’s: 3S, 4RD, 4W, 5/6B, 6C (These meetings will be held in your child’s classroom) School Fee & Collection Policy Attached to today’s newsletter is a copy of our School Fee & Collection Policy. COME ALONG AND HAVE SOME FUN!!!

All Saints’ Primary School Boonah P&F The Parents & Friends Association is a great way to meet others and work together to make our school a better place. While fundraising is a major objective of the P&F, building a sense of community is our main focus. We do this in meetings and through functions where parents can interact and seek information about the school, contribute, socialise and provide support for each other. Office Bearers President: Andrew Conway Vice President: Alan Cant Treasurer: Cameron Stewart Secretary: Clare Brandon Fundraising Coordinator: Vacant Tuckshop Convenor: Els Forde and Karen Schefe Grants’ Officer: Claire Barrett Meetings: Our meetings are held at 7pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the school library, unless otherwise advertised. All members of the school community are always welcome at the meetings. Raise an agenda item: Teachers, students, families and members of the community are invited to attend meetings to present ideas for community or school projects or raise issues concerning the school. If you would like to add an agenda item to the meeting you can contact Andrew Conway (President) or Clare Brandon (Secretary) to discuss. You must be present at a P&F meeting to raise the issue so that it is fairly represented and you are involved in any discussions.

What we’ve achieved The All Saints’ Boonah P&F is responsible for raising funds for the school to provide additional resources and equipment. Over the past three years these have not only enhanced the learning environment at All Saints’ but built a sense of community at our school. For example in 2016 we raised over $18,000 from our Fete and over $25,000 in P&F funds contributed to school activities:

We have raised these funds through: once per week tuckshop staffed by volunteers catering for school BBQs and sports days biannual school Fete and Monster Raffle Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls to allow students

to purchase their own gifts staffing the Boonah Show Gates in May each year bake stalls. These funds have contributed to many of the schools initiatives and include: purchase of laptops, tablets and educational

resources landscaping, maintenance and improvement of

playground equipment and facilities replacement of the school’s photocopier purchase of the Frank Street Oval funds towards the Canberra trip electronic whiteboard purchases air conditioning for classrooms, offices and library sponsoring students to participate in state and

national sport events welcome and end of year BBQ events school discos.

SCHOOL FEE PAYMENT & COLLECTION POLICY

Issuing of Accounts

School fees are emailed to the primary contact person and are issued at the following times:

Term 1 – end of week 3; Terms 2 to 4 – end of week 1.

Fees are due 3 weeks after the date issued. Fees are structured in the following way:

Tuition Fee: the amount charged to educate your child / children

Levies: costs charged for educational activities such as: excursions (swimming lessons, Raw Art visits, Footsteps

Dance Company), stationery and other consumable items, access to Information Technology, maintenance of

buildings, enhancements to the grounds and providing for any new constructions.

Fee adjustment: families that arrive during the school year or depart before the end of the school year will have their

School Fees adjusted.

Parents/Guardians are asked to pay the account by the nominated due date, which is shown on the account.

Method of Payment

Payment can be made at the School Office by cash, cheque, credit/debit card, BPay, Direct Deposit and/or Direct Debit.

Reminder Notices

This will be the process:

1. One week after the nominated due date a reminder notice will be forwarded to any accounts unpaid.

2. Two weeks after the nominated due date, should accounts continue to remain outstanding, a member of the

Administration Team will make contact to discuss the outstanding fees.

Payment Difficulties

There are times when accounts cannot be paid by the due date. If you are experiencing such difficulties, please contact the

School as soon as possible, preferably before the due date.

From this discussion, assistance, such as extending the time to pay or offering a payment by installments, can be arranged.

Overdue Accounts

On the rare occasions when families fail to pay their account, do not respond to reminder notices and/or do not contact the

School to make alternate arrangements, the School will be forced to consider engaging the services of a professional debt

collection agency.

Please be aware that additional charges will be incurred once the account has been handed to the debt collection agency.

Once the account is handed over the matter effectively passes out of the School’s control and all negotiations for payment

must then be made with the debt collector. Please be aware that this may result in your credit rating be affected.

Concessions

In cases of financial hardship the School will consider offering a concession.

Concession applications must be made with the Principal and are accepted at the commencement of each year (within the

first month) or when a hardship within the family occurs.

Concessions are based in line with Federal Government Poverty Guidelines. The assessment process takes all income into

consideration including: Wages, Youth Allowance, all other Centrelink payments etc; as well as housing costs eg rent or

mortgage.

Concessions on fees are not ongoing and applications must be resubmitted at the commencement of the new

school year.

Should you require further information, please contact the School: Ph. 5463 1322.
