Lesson: Fast rewind Unit 1&2

Time: 50 minutes

Lesson (main) aims:

- to practice the notions taught in units 1&2

- to practice present simple and, there is/ there are with some &any, verb

must/ mustn’t, can/can’t

- to use prespositions of place

- to talk about personal details

- to talk about rules

- to develop the student’s reading, listening, writing and speaking skills

Subsidiary aims:

- to ask about and describe parts of a room, furniture and objects, patterns and

colours

- to use the present simple correctly

- to talk about countries and nationalities, family members and types of music

- to listen to someone talking about her/his life

- write a description of a room

Skills: speaking, reading, writing, listening

Anticipated language problems: Pupils/students could become a bit noisy when

working in pairs/groups; some of them (the dominant ones) may try to answer too

often and exclude the others. In some cases, pupils may not understand the task

given by the teacher;

Possible solutions: the teacher may ask pupils simultaneously to speak; He/She

may repeat the task in order to be clear for everybody;

Teaching aids: the manual, a handout, pupil’s notebooks, the blackboard;

Modes of interaction: teacher-student, student-student, group-work;

1st Activity

Aims: to use correctly the Present Simple Tense of the verb to be

Procedure: The pupils are asked to solve ex. 1, pag. 19 in which they have to

choose the correct part of the verb to be to complete the sentences.

Teacher’s role: observer

Skills: reading, writing, speaking.

Class management: individual work

Timing: 5 minutes

2nd Activity

Aims: To use correctly the Present Simple Tense

Procedure: The pupils are asked to solve ex. 2, pag. 19 in which they have to

complete the sentences with the correct form of the verb in brackets

3rd Activity

Aims: To use correctly the verb can/can’t, must/mustn’t

Procedure: The pupils are asked to solve ex.3, pag.19 in wich they have to

complete the blanks with one of the verbs.

Class management: individual work

Timing: 10 minutes

4th Activity

Aims: To use correctly the form of there is or there are

Procedure: The pupils are asked to solve ex.4, pag. 19 in wich they have to

complete the sentences with the correct form.

Teacher’s role: observer

Skills: writing, reading, speaking

Class management: individual work

Timing: 10 minutes

5th Activity

Aims: To use and identify the learnt new words in the previous lesson

Procedure: The pupils are asked to solve ex. 5, pag.19 in wich they have to choose

the odd word from each group.

6th Activity

Aims: to talk about countries and nationalities

Procedure: Student A and Student B have to work in pairs and to ask each other

about name and address, brothers and sisters, music and their bedroom, telephone

number, nationality and school subjects.

Skills: listening, speaking

Class management: work in pairs.
