Copying an Assessment in Aware
(Using a test from a previous year or the English test to create a Spanish test)
WHY?
You want to use a district created test/benchmark written in a previous year
You want to copy a STAAR test to use
You want to copy an English version of a test to create the Spanish version
As seen to the right, Campus/District Test Creators and Teachers will now choose
one of the three options for creating a new test. The roles/rights of the user will
determine the level of the test being created. Selecting an option will then move to the
respective test creation page.
3. Copy Existing Test
Copying an Existing test starts by selecting a test to copy from available types and tests.

After selecting a test to copy, you can update the following information to reflect the new version of the test.
The copy button will turn blue when you have chosen the test to copy.
Naming Conventions for Benchmark Assessments (pdf)
**Note:
If we are continuing to post equate standards, set the Approaches Grade Level at 2%. Then follow your content leader’s directions for setting the Meets Grade Level and Masters Grade Level standards.
District Define Field A and District Defined Field B can be blank.
The Generate test button will turn blue when you have entered all information.
Choose the Course
Choose at least one campus. You can add more campuses later.
Questions Tab
Allows you to reorder, delete, and edit questions.
Use this tab if you are changing the language of the questions a test.

Tip:
What you see on the Layout Tab
is not always how it looks when
printed. To “print preview”, choose the
Test Booklet Print Option, then click
PRINT. A PDF will download. You can
view and make any adjustments to
your layout before printing the final test
booklet.

Allows you to quickly delete questions, edit the correct answers or TEKS, and reorder questions.
These icons
allow you to

Allows you to share, rescore, or clear answers for the test.

**Where are the kids located? **For Spanish tests, you might choose only
*Select All is useful Dual/Bilingual Campuses.
Test Status:
A. Pending: All tests will initially be pending. You can only make edits to the test in this status. You cannot print answer documents.
B. Active- You can print answer documents and administer online testing.
C. Archived- Please change the status of all tests to Archived at the end of the school year.
Rescore:
If student results have been collected for this assessment, adding, removing, or changing performance level thresholds will require you to RESCORE.
You also have to Rescore IF you change the weight of any items and data has already been collected.
Why Delete?
If you have generated answer documents but no scores have been entered, and then need to edit, delete, or add a question the test, you need to delete answer sheets first. Click Delete Answer Sheet and select all individual students.
Why Clear?
If you have generated answer documents, and then need to edit, delete, or add a question the test, you click Clear Answer Sheet.
Note: ALL data from scanned answer documents or online testing will be permanently removed, and existing answer documents will no longer scan once these entries are cleared. Throw these answer documents away. You will have to print new ones.
First, you can filter by a grade level to
find the correct campuses.
**Which kids on the selected campus(es) are taking the test?
This is the default. If you do not select anything, then
campuses will not be able to find the assessment and
print answer documents.
*Remember to think about the specific course(s) that
the students taking this benchmark would be enrolled
in.
*You can change the Subject on the top right drop
down. For example, for Writing Benchmarks, change the
Subject Area from Writing to English Language Arts to
find the courses.
Change to Collection
Use the information in the Benchmark
Timeline/Test Codes Calendar (pdf) to
identify the grade level’s Start and End Dates.
WHEN FINISHED:
Go to the Layout tab, print a Test Key and verify
that all information is correct.
