    Applicants who hold Korean citizenship are not permitted to apply for

    this program.

    o Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in

    grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended

    institution.

    c. Selection Procedure - Document screening and interviews will be conducted for evaluation.

    d. Notes Selection for successful candidates will be done strictly by the NIIED

    Selection Committee.

    - Dual applications are not accepted. Applicants must apply for this program

    via only one institution.

    - Documents should be presented in their original form.

    - Submitted documents will not be returned to the applicants.

    - Incomplete or incorrect documents may lead to application rejection or

    failure in the Selection Committee, and scholarship revocation even after

    entry into Korea.

    - In case of submitting photocopied documents, applicants must submit the

    original to the 1st Selection Institution and have the original one and the

    photocopied one collated. The confirmation of collation should be indicatedin the photocopied documents.

    - Applicants who are expected to graduate from their respective home

    undergraduate/graduate institutions by August 31st, 2014, should submit the

    certificate (or letter) of expected graduation issued by said institutions

    when hey apply; the official certificate of graduation should be received

    by NIIED by August 31st, 2014.

    - Applicants must accurately complete the health checklist truthfully. All

    successful candidates must take a comprehensive medical exam when its

    orientation. In accordance with the requirements of the Korea Immigration

    Service and the KGSP Program, the candidates who are judged to be

    physically unfit for this program will not be accepted.

    * Transferring to a different university after confirming the host university

    is not permitted in any cases. In regards to changing majors, it would be

    permitted only under the mutual agreement of the departments concerned only

    within the same university, with the scholarship period unchanged. (2 years

    of Masters, or 3 years of doctoral, in total). However, quitting a

    program and applying for a new one is not permitted.

    - All applicants must attend the interview on the designated day.

    - The applicant's English name and date of birth must match the information on

    his/her passport.

    3. International Peer Support

    CNU International Peer Support aims to enhance academicachievement and adaptation to university life for incoming internationalstudent by Korean partner students including the following Activities:1) Registering in classes and writing a study hour plan

    2) Participating in department gatherings and events

    3) Meeting academic advisors and obtaining other information

    4) Writing reports and assignments

    5) Preparing for examinations

    . Campus Guide 1. Residence HallChung-Ang University houses Korean Government scholars in the on-campus student

    dormitory which opened in 2010. Both Korean and international students live in the

    dormitory to provide an international atmosphere. The monthly rent is around $300 USD

    for a 4-person room with four beds and $350 USD for a 2-person room with two beds. A

    meal plan is included within the dormitory fees.

    . Campus Guide & Important Notes1. Dormitory Exclusive for Graduate Students Daegu University offers rooms in the International House #2 exclusively for graduate

    students in order to enhance their academic achievement and research. All Global Korea

    Scholarship students may elect to stay in the International House. Currently there are 60

    graduate students staying in 30 rooms. Each room is equipped with a washing machine,

    a refrigerator, a TV and a balcony. There are 15 restaurants available on campus so it is

    easy for students to find food that suits their taste.

    2. Important notes for applicants A. When using Korean domestic mail service, the application materials should be post

    marked by 17:00 on the day of the application deadline (documents must be sent

    using express registered mail). For international mail, documents should arrive before

    the deadline.

    B. Please be aware of the followings before submitting your application documents: - All documents for submission must be originals

    All documents not written in English or Korean, must be translated and notarized.

    A copy of the applicants diploma certified by the university he/she graduated

    from may be submitted in place of the original.

    - In addition to the documents required by the NIIED, a certificate showing the

    relationship between the applicant and his/her parents should be included (this

    should include information about the nationalities of the parents)

    3. Additional Information (Support for GKS Students) A. Administrative support: Daegu University provides its full cooperation to the offices

    charged with offering services for Global Korea Scholarship Students. Through the

    International Education Support Team and the International Student Services in the

    Office of International Affairs, Daegu University provides full support to Global Korea

    Scholarship students including academic counselling, dormitory management,

    immigration services, life counselling and a variety of other administrative support. As

    a result, Global Korea Scholarship Students feel less culture shock and are able to

    enjoy their study abroad experience at Daegu University. Moreover, in the Office of

    International Affairs and the Graduate School Administration, office members and

    assistants who can speak English, Chinese, Mongolian, Vietnamese and other languages

    have been staffed to help students communicate and ensure that they are content in

    their daily lives.

    B. Administrative, Counselling

    - Daily living Support: We keep students informed about important information

    regarding scholarships and their lives in Korea through email and our website. We

    support students to ease their life and study at Daegu University.- Academic Counselling : At the completion of their Korean Language program and

    their entrance to the Graduate School, students are provided with counselling by

    their advisers and assistants from their department. Daegu University does its best to

    minimize difficulties students face when it comes to living and studying.

    C. Scholarship and Welfare Support

    - Very resonable dormitory accommodation (double occupancy) : Exclusive for

    international students (Hotel-like) at appro. USD 950 for six months.

    - Modern sports facilities (golf, swimming, health club, movies etc.) available at very

    cheap price

    - In addition to the Global Korea Scholarship, Daegu University offers extra scholarships.

    Based on students academic achievement, the scholarship is offered as follows

    Level A: Published in international academic journals maximum of 1.5 million won

    Level B: Published in journals evaluated and registered by the National Research

    Foundation of Korea or awarded international exhibitions - maximum of 700

    thousand won

    Level C: A candidate for publication in journals evaluated and registered by the

    National Research Foundation of Korea or the recipient of an award from a

    national contest -maximum of 500 thousand won

    Level D : Published in international or national general journals - maximum of

    300 thousand won

    Level E : Presenting at international or national academic conferences - maximum

    of 200 thousand won

    E. Mentoring program

    - Korean (or international scholarship student) mentor selection : Daegu University

    professors, staff or students who are culturally sensitive may be selected as mentorsfor international students. Any international student who is interested can have a

    mentor assigned.

    - Counselling training for mentors : To better understand international students and to

    give them a helpful hand, Daegu University offers mentors counselling skills training

    with help from the Daegu University Student Life Counselling Center. Mentors are

    periodically offered training to be better mentors (mentors are given incentives.)

    F. Other management and support programs : Daegu University runs a variety of events

    for international students such as a buddy program, sports meetings for international

    students, International Students Night and regular social gatherings.

    G. Academic support for graduate programs

    - Before entering graduate programs students are offered personalized support through

    interviews with advisers to evaluate their linguistic abilities and preparation for study.

    - At the beginning of each semester we provide guidance for students academic

    pursuits and thesis preparation to ensure a smooth graduation process.

    Residence halls in Daejeon University are comprised of the 1st

    Residence Hall, the 2nd

    Residence Hall, International Residence Hall and

    the 4th Residence Hall and they are recognized as one of the most

    beautiful and elegant buildings in Korea and internal functions are also

    considered meticulously so that they can be linked each other organically.

    They have several types of rooms such as a room accommodating 4

    students, 2 students and 1 student, and they can accommodate total

    1,340 persons. The convenient facilities include a laundry room, an ironing

    room, a lounge, a fitness center, a space for table tennis, a computer

    lab, a cafeteria and a snack bar.
